E10A EE236L Expt10 Two Port Networks GUIDE
I. OBJECTIVES
1. To determine the two-port network parameters experimentally.
2. To verify the relationship between each two-port network parameters.
3. To determine the parameters of interconnected two-port networks experimentally.
4. To verify the relationship between the parameters of individual and interconnected two-port networks.
5. To determine the image and iterative impedances of two-port networks.
6. To observe how reciprocity and symmetry affects the values of two-port network parameters, image
impedances, and iterative impedances.
III. PROCEDURES
OPEN AND SHORT CIRCUIT QUANTITIES AND NETWORK PARAMETERS
1. Construct the T filter section shown in Figure 10.1.
2. Connect a DC Voltage source across the input terminals and set its voltage to 12 V.
3. Measure the voltages across and the currents through the input port and output port when the output
port is open. Record them in Table 10.1.
4. Measure the voltages across and the currents through the input port and output ports when the output
port is shorted. Record them in Table 10.1.
5. Transfer the DC Voltage source to the output terminals and set its voltage to 12 V.
6. Measure the voltages across and the currents through the input port and output ports when the input
port is open. Record them in Table 10.1.
7. Measure the voltages across and the currents through the input port and output ports when the input
port is shorted. Record them in Table 10.1.
8. Compute the experimental and theoretical Impedance, Admittance, and Transmission Parameters.
Record them in Table 10.6.
9. Repeat the procedures 2 to 8 for the Π filter section shown in Figure 10.2. Record the values in Table 10.2
and Table 10.7.
10. Repeat the procedures 2 to 8 for the series combination of the filter sections as shown in Figure 10.3.
Record the values in Table 10.3 and Table 10.8.
11. Repeat the procedures 2 to 8 for the series combination of the filter sections as shown in Figure 10.4.
Record the values in Table 10.4 and Table 10.9.
12. Repeat the procedures 2 to 8 for the cascaded filter sections as shown in Figure 10.5. Record the values
in Table 10.5 and Table 10.10.
