WHAT IS WALL PANEL?
A WALL PANEL is a single piece of material,
usually flat and cut into a rectangular shape,
that serves as the visible and exposed covering
for a wall.

WALL PANELS TODAY

Wall Panelling can either be done on the interior or the
exterior of a building or house. Originally, wall panelling
was used to make stone rooms more comfortable to live
in. The panels where placed to create insulation between
the stone wall and the room itself. Interior wall panelling
is still used for this reason, but it serves mainly as
decoration.

FLAT WALL PANEL
3.1 SYSTEMS Flat wall panels are interior or exterior
panel systems that create a flush
appearance along the surface of
panel. These panels can range in
shape, size and are often used in both
interior and exterior application.

3.1 Wood Panel Series:
Shiplap

This style of paneling features horizontally-running

grooved boards that are positioned tightly together
to form a weatherproof seal (shiplap used to be
primarily use for home exteriors). The place where
the boards meet is called a "Rabbet".

siding, describes a type of exterior
siding or interior that has alternating
wide boards and narrow wooden strips,
called "Battens". The boards are
usually (but not always) 1 foot wide.
The boards may be placed horizontally
or vertically. The Battens are usually
(but not always) about 1/2 inch wide.

3.1 Wood Panel Series:
PLANK WALL
This application consists of a series of wood planks that
run floor-to-ceiling either horizontally or vertically (although
vertical is more common

Plank width varies depending on the size of

the room and personal preference. Whether
you use reclaimed wood, new wood, or new
wood made to look old, a plank wall adds
tons of warmth and texture to a space.

3.1 Wood Panel Series: BEADBOARD
Beadboard planks feature tongue and groove
assembly, meaning one side of a plank has a
tongue (protrusion) that runs the length of the
plank, and the other side has a corresponding
groove. When installed side-by-side this creates
interlocking reinforcement that keeps the planks
flat and even.

FLAT WALL PANEL SYSTEMS
3.1 DRY WALLS

Dry wall installation requires

careful measuring and cutting to
fit pieces into small spaces
above doors or below windows.
Installers also saw holes in the
panels for electrical outlets and
plumbing. Because drywall is
heavy, an assistant works with
the installer to position and
secure the panels.

FLAT WALL PANEL SYSTEMS
3.1 WALL TILES

The thinner, lighter nature of

wall tiles makes them easier to
cut and install. These are the
best choice for wall
installations, even though floor
tiles can also be installed
vertically on walls.

mortar onto the foundation
ledge to prepare it to receive
the first course of brick. Leads
are installed at the ends of the
wall planes and the desired
height. It is also very
important to level the first
course so that the following
courses remain level.

3.2
RIBBED WALL PANEL SYSTEMS
A ribbed metal panels feature a bold
design that delivers a unique
industrial appearance. This unique
profile creates a shadow effect that
adds texture.

The 7.2 Insul-Rib Panel can be installed

both vertically and horizontally, allowing
architects flexibility with design. Combine
with other CF joint profiles of the same
thickness to add visual appeal.
3.2
HOW RIBBED WALL PANELS ARE
BUILT:
Rib wall panels come standard in 26 gauge steel,
with 24 gauge or 22 gauge options. The panel is
36" wide with 1 1/4 high ribs, 12" on center. It is
available in lengths up to 41 which can provide a
continuous panel from foundation to eave.

The assembly is completed

This can eliminate the need for end with the addition of an external
laps and assures you of wall integrity profiled metal sheet
and weather tightness. The panels are
attached with self-drilling, color-
matched fasteners
3.2
HOW RIBBED WALL PANELS ARE ARE
INSTALLED:
The standard fastening and overlap
patterns should be used when
installing siding to ensure optimum
performance. You should not run
siding panels all the way to the ground
and the bottom edge should be
terminated on a base flashing. When
the wall consists of more than one
panel in each vertical row install
panels from the bottom up so that
water is directed away from, and not
into, the lap joints. Siding panels
installed horizontally should have butyl
tape or caulking applied at the vertical
laps.
