STRUCTURE 1 (CAUSAL STRUCTURE): SIMON, THE LONELY BIRD

Once upon a time, there was a bird named Simon, who lived in a big big jungle. He was a small bird with

long and blue wings. He usually liked to fly alone around the jungles, showing the other animals his beautiful

colours, but anybody wanted to see him because he was a bad and lonely bird. He didn't like to help other

animals; he just wants to live alone without friends.

One day, as a routine, he is flying around the jungle, singing loudly to attract the attention of all the animals.

Suddenly, he saw a piece of bread on a stone that seemed really delicious for him. So, Simon thought that

could be great to taste it!

While he was eating it, Simon heard a loud noise above him. A big cage was falling and catching him inside!

- Nooo, help help! I can’t fly! Please, can anyone listen to me!?

Simon saw a long snake passing by the cage.

- Hi beautiful snake. Can you help me, please?

- I can’t Simon, I don’t have hands to lift the cage, I’m sorry.

Simon saw the snake going away through the plants and then he started crying.

A few minutes later a small butterfly heards his screams and flew near the cage to see what's happening.

- Hi beautiful butterfly. Can you help me, please?

- I can’t Simon, I have hands, but I’m too small and I don’t have forces to lift the cage, I’m sorry.

The bird saw the butterfly flying away through the sky.

- Nobody will help me, and I can’t escape from this cage. I don’t have friends and I’m lonely.

The bird waited for hours and hours and nobody was passing near the cage. He was really sad. Suddenly,

Simon saw a monkey jumping in the trees.

- Hi beautiful monkey. Can you help me, please?

The monkey tries to help Simon, because he had hands and forces to do it, but the cage isn’t moving, so he

decided to go for help. Five minutes later he arrived with all the animals of the jungle (lions, birds, monkeys,

elephants, giraffes...).

All the animals started lifting the cage and finally helped Simon to escape. Then, they started dancing and

singing in a big party including the bird Simon that he was really happy. From the day on, Simon will never be

alone again.

Thanks to this help, Simon saw that sometimes it is better to let yourself help, and help others, before going

through life alone.

STORY

CLARIFICATION
Once upon a time, there was a bird named Simon, who lived in a big big jungle. He was a small bird

with long and blue wings. He usually liked to fly alone around the jungles, showing the other animals

his beautiful colours, but anybody wanted to see him because he was a bad and lonely bird. He didn't

like to help other animals; he just wants to live alone without friends.

One day, as a routine, he is flying around the jungle, singing loudly to attract the attention of all the

animals. Suddenly, he saw a piece of bread on a stone that seemed really delicious for him. So, Simon

thought that could be great to taste it!

While he was eating it, Simon heard a loud noise above him. A big cage was falling and catching him

- Nooo, help help! I can’t fly! Please, can anyone listen to me!?

The man saw a young boy worried for his ball that was rolling toward the road.

- Excuse me! Can you help me! My ball is on the road and I'm worried! - said the young boy.

- Of course! I will take it and bring it to you.

- Oh, thank you so much!- Don’t thank me young boy! - said the man.

And they hugged each other in a loving way!

Suddenly the young boy saw a girl crying on the floor because she had fallen from the skateboard.

- Oh, are you okay? Do you need help? -asked the boy.

- Yes, can you please help me get off the ground?

- Yes of course!

- Thank you so much!

- I will give you a lollipop to make you better! - said the young boy.

- It’s all a detail! Thank you!

Lua walked away with her skateboard on her arms and the lollipop in her mouth, thinking about everything

that happened and repeating the same sentence: “If you help others, the world will end up rewarding you”.

STRUCTURE 3 (THE SERPENT STRUCTURE): MOON AND SARAH

Once there was a girl called Moon. She was really smart, honest, and kind person. Whatever she wanted to

do, she did it without help from anyone. She was living in an orphanage. Their parents didn’t want her, that’s

what the director of the orphanage explained to Moon. For this reason, she had to grow up with other

abandoned girls. When she was 13 years old, she started to be interested in nursing, doctors, etc., until she

was 26 years old when she started to work as a doctor in a hospital. She had to study hard for being what

she was.

One day, Moon was working at the hospital as usual, when suddenly a girl came to the emergency room

because she was ill. The doctor Moon quickly attended to where the girl was to examine the patient’s

condition, but she didn’t expect what she would be going to see. They saw each other with surprise faces

and a few seconds later, the patient fell into a coma.

Moon can’t believe what her eyes saw at that moment. She had been searching for her other half for years

until she was born and now, she found her. The same nose, same tiny lips, her green eyes, and her long and

black hair. Moon was really sure that the girl who came to the hospital was her twin sister, Sarah.

The nurse gave Moon a document with the diagnostic about Sarah. She had a really bad heart illness. She

may die at any time if nobody did a heart transplant. The doctors had to wait until a new heart that may be

compatible with the same family blood.

After 10 minutes, Moon decided to go and saw how the patient was. She was in a coma and she was quiet,

but the doctor Moon couldn’t wait to tell her the story of their lives.

“My name is Moon, and I was born at the same time as you did because we are twins. Our parents, as you

probably know, are the richest family in the city. They didn’t expect that we are twins and they only wanted

one of us, so they chose you as their daughter. They abandoned me in front of an orphanage when I only had

3 months of life. I lived a difficult childhood, but when I was 18, I decided to study for being a doctor and

have a better life. I have been searching for you all my life. I only wanted to hug my sister, my other half, my

sunshine, but I couldn’t. And then finally, here you are, in front of me, without saying anything because you

are in a coma. I’m really sorry.”

Moon wiped away her tears and kissed her on the hand.

After 16 hours of heart transplant operation, Sarah finally woke up in the same hospital room. She felt good

but at the same time, she had a strange feeling. She saw a letter on the room table, and she decided to

open and read it.

“Hi, beautiful sunshine, I hope you feel good with your new heart. I’m really sorry because I can’t be with you

now, I have a responsibility to solve it. I’m really happy because finally, I found you. I wish you will have a

happy life and please remember me forever.

INFORMATION OF THE STORY

AGE OF PUPILS

6th grade of primary. First of all because the structure of the story is not repetitive and simple. Moreover, the

vocabulary is a little bit difficult, and there are scientific words (nursing, etc.). The sentences that appears in

the story are appropriate for children of 6th grade of primary because the plot match with the curiosity and

interests of the elder ones. There is suspense and mystery at the beginning until the end of the story.

Once upon a time, there was a boy named Alan who lived in a small town. He used to play alone in the playground,

sitting in a corner and crying because he didn’t have any friends. He saw that all the boys and girls had the most

colourful bags to go to school, but his bag was boring and black as all of him. His t-shirt was black, and his pants were

black too. That’s why nobody wanted to talk with him.

One day, he arrived at home after the school classes and he went to the bedroom and started his new book that his

grandmother bought as a birthday present. He used to read a lot to keep his mind distracted, but he didn’t know that

the new book had a surprise for him. When he opened the book, he saw a cloud of smoke come out between the pages.

He was scared a lot and ran under the bed with his teddy bear around his arms.

- Hi Alan! Don’t be afraid, I’m here to help you. Please come here! – said a voice.

Alan came out slowly from the bed and sat in his chair. He couldn’t believe what he was seeing. A colourful smoke with

a nice face was talking with him. It seemed like a girl because she had a soft voice. Also, this smoke was like the genius

of Aladdin’s lamp.

- Hi Alan, my name is Ada and I’m a genius from your book. I’m here because I want to help you. I’ve been seeing that

you’re always very alone and sad, and I have the solution for that. Do you want to change? – said, Ada.

Alan said yes with his head and asked her about which was the solution for his problem.

- You used to see the world in black and white and I want to present more colours that make you happy – said Ada.

From here, Ada took him to the three most colourful places in the world to see Alan's reaction.

When they arrived in the first place Alan only saw a green tree, and suddenly, his left arm started to get coloured.

- Ada, look at me! I can see colours on my left arm! - Scream so happy Alan.

- That’s so great! - Responded to Ada.

The second place that Ada took him was more coloured than the last place that they visited. Ada showed a beautiful

and colourful landscape with birds flying away. This time Alan could see all of the fantastic colours from only half of the

landscape. He was really happy because suddenly his half of the body was coloured too.

- Ada, my body... I have half of my body coloured! - Said Alan to Ada.

- This starts to work! - Respond so happy Ada.

Finally, when they arrived at the last place, Alan was happier than other times because he could see all the landscape,

all the trees, all the fruits and animals that were colourful! It was great!

- Ada, Ada, Ada!!! - Scream so happy Alan - Look at me! I can see colours in my full body!

- I’m so proud of you Alan, really proud. You are ready! - Responded Ada.

The next day he woke up like every morning to go to school and when he opened his eyes all his books, pieces of cloths,

dolls... from the room were in colours, in their original colours! That had never happened before! He was so happy!

When he arrived at school he could play with his friends!

Alan had colours like all his partners and then everybody wanted to play with him. He was happier than ever!

MELODY FOR MELODIE

Ten years ago, there was a boy named Jason who lived in a small town with his family and his

dog Jack. He had a younger sister named Chloe that liked dancing in her room after school

classes and painting flowers for her mother.

For his 8th birthday, Jason received a present from his grandmother who lived near the house.

Jason was really happy when he saw a beautiful music box with a dancer inside. She wore a pink

and elegant dress, her hair was tied with a pink bow and her eyes were blue like the ocean. He

was admired for its beauty and the beautiful song that Jason heard. He decided to named

Melodie for the delicate melody that Jason played every time.

Every day the boy got up to go to school with his mother. He always said goodbye to Melodie

that stayed in the music box with her beautiful smile. He was coming home very quickly to talk to

Melodie.

One day Jason arrived at home after the school classes and he saw that Melodie had a strange

and little wound in her right leg, but he didn’t care at all.

The following day, when Jason returned from school, he saw that his dancer Melodie had her hair

down. Here, Jason began to suspect but he picked up her hair and he left it in its usual place.

Another day passed, and he came back from school again and there he couldn’t believe it; the

dancer wasn’t in her place! He always left her on his study table, and this time she was on the

bed. He got very angry because he thought it was his sister who had taken his things, including

the dancer Melodie, so he went to look for her:

- Chloe, Chloe! - Jason shouted - Where are you?

- Why are you screaming at me? - Chloe said -.

Ten years ago, there was a boy named Jason who lived in a small town with his family and his

For his 8th birthday, Jason received a present from his grandmother who lived near the house.

was admired for its beauty and the beautiful song that Jason heard. He decided to named

Melodie for the delicate melody that Jason played every time.

One day Jason arrived at home after the school classes and he saw that Melodie had a strange

The next day, when Jason returned from school, he saw that his dancer Melodie had her hair

down, she didn’t have the dancer’s bow that she had always had. Here, Jason began to suspect

that something was going on, but he thought it was impossible, so he picked up her hair and he

left it in its usual place.

Another day passed, and he came back from school again and there he couldn’t believe it; the

dancer wasn’t in her place! He always left her on his study table, and this time she was on the

bed. He got very angry because he thought it was his sister who had taken his things, including

the dancer Melodie, so he went to look for her:

- Chloe, Chloe! - Shouted Jason - Where are you?

when he was 6 years old and he started to help people at midnight. But a thing that he

didn’t know is that he had a twin sister.

After Tom’s speech, the two brothers hug each other and smile because they were

together again. They decided to keep the secret and work every night.

One night, Emily flew out the windows to go to Tom’s house and started collecting

objects. During the work, Emily found a necklace that seems familiar for her. She

opened and saw a picture of her and Tom and suddenly knew who the owner was. Emily

and Tom went to Emily’s house, they entered her mother's room and Tom put the

necklace in the neck of her mother, who was very asleep. After finishing this great work

Tom went to his house again to go to sleep.

The next morning Emily heard her mother screaming and shouting. She went to see what

was happening and she saw her mother smiling. She hugged her daughter and told her
