Prayas Special School Maqsudan has it's own (private) building. The school has total 3
classrooms. The lowest Class is 1 and the highest class in the school is 5. This school has
2 Male Teachers and 8 Female Teachers.

HISTORY:
Prayas is a special school in which student who are physically and mentally disabled are
studied. This school is also looked after by the Indian Red Cross Society. School provides
all those things which are helpful in their better lifestyle.
OBJECTIVES
• Giving them vocational training to earn and lead a decent life. Teaching to learn useful
vocational training to lead life of equality with dignity in the society they live.
• Educating parents about teaching the household chores and daily activities which
would help the mentally/physically challenged to lead an independent life.
• Teaching the members of society about the measures to prevent disability in mere
future.
• Making the mentally/physically challenged and their family members to know about
the Government's welfare and assistance.
• To develop the rehabilitation centre working as a day care centre at present to a full
fledged residential home in future.
• To increase the education level of all kind of mentally/physically challenged using the
teaching and learning material (TLM) specially designed for them .
INFRASTRUCTURAL FACILITIES
Prayas School for Special Children is well equipped with infrastructure required. The
school has 5 rooms, an office, hostel facility, proper facility of drinking water and food
are also provided to children.
STRENGTH OF SCHOOL
There are near about 40 students in the school. Most of the students live in the school and
rest of the student go to home with their parents. There are students who are above 18
years of age and one student is about 40 year old.
STAFF MEMBERS
There are total 10 teachers in the school. Out of which 2 teachers are male and 8 are
female teachers. Also attendants are available in the school to take of the students needs.
The teachers are specially trained to take care of these children. They are regularly sent
for reorientation programmes. Teachers show their helpful nature towards these students.
EDUCATIONAL FACILITIES
There are various educational facilities which are provided to them as given below:
➢ BASIC EDUCATION:
The school endeavors to train the children to read, write, draw, and paint and also tom
recognize articles.
School also encourages students to draw or make hand made things with their hands.
➢ WORKSHOPS:
The school organizes various workshops for parents and teachers of such children.
Various experts and resource persons are invited to enlighten the parents and teachers for
the education and care of disabled children.
AN APPEAL
Each individual is entitled to hid proper place in society. Medication is important but
factors like positive therapy, counseling and community support are essential. We and
you are sincere and right thinking members of the society have a moral responsibility to
support them in all ways possible and provide opportunities to then to enjoy the
fundamental rights.
