The best process simulation software is now easier to use and faster to learn than ever! Aspen HYSYS is a comprehensive process modeling system used by the world's leading ol & gas producers, refineries, and engineering companies to optimize process design and operations. Gas Gathering Workshop In this example, a gas gathering system located on varied terrain is simulated using the steady state capabilities of HYSYS. The following ‘figure shows the physical configuration of this system superimposed on a topographic map. The system consists of four wells distributed over an area of approximately 2.0 square km, connected to a gas plant via a network of pipelines. Learning Objectives Once you have completed this module, you will be able to use the Pipe Segment in HYSYS to model pipelines Gas Gathering Exampli ‘There are 4 gas wells, we need to gather the gas from the wells and transfer it to the plant through pipe lines shown below: © Ppetineeeratin rnd The composition of the four wells is the same: Component Mole Fraction ‘Component Mole Fraction ‘Methane 062305] _n-pentane 0.00405 Ethane 0.2800. n-hexane 0.00659 Propane Ot1gsa C7+ 0.00992 i-butane 0.00433) Nz 0.00554 n-butane 0.00821 CO: 0.0225, i-pentane 0.00416 HLS 0.0154 CT+: MW=122, p=47.45 lb/ft 40 (105) 45 (115) 45 (115) 35 (95) 4135 (600) | 3450 (500) | | Flow kgmole/h 425 (935) | 375 (825) | 575(1270) | 545 (1200) (lbmote/hr) The pipe segments data are given bel Gas Gathering Elevation meters Branch 1 | GasWell1 639 1 150 645, 6 2 125 636.5 25 3 100 637 05 Branch 2 | GasWell2 64 1 200 637 23 Branch 3 |GaaWeld 6355 1 160 648, 125 2 100 634 “14 3 205 635 a Branch 4 | Branch 1&2 ae a 1 356 633 4 Branch 6 | Bann oe Ua 63 1 300 612 “16 Branch6 | GasWell4 QD ees 1 780 1525 78 2 765 617 2 Branch? | Brancnsaers| (Qu [67 1 aay 604 “19 Braget(7 76.2 mm (3°) Breach? 101.6 mm (#) Branch 3 762mm(3) Branch 4 101.6 mm (4) Branch 5 162 mm (6) Branch 6 76.2 mm (2) Branch T 152mm (6) Schedule 40 steel pipes is used throughout and all branches are buried at a depth of | m (3 fi).
