Excercise 13 CW

1. Imagine preparing yourself to be a tour guide in Germany, and you should explain to
your tour group through a graphic presentation why there once existed a Berlin Wall and
why it was torn down.  In order that the people better understand the major events, you
should present your explanation in a historical context.
2. We suggest you follow these instructions so that your presentation is congruent:
a. Search for images of the Berlin Wall and explain when and why it was erected.
b. Indicate the period in which the Cold War existed.
c. Describe the errors committed by leaders that led to a crisis in what was then
the USSR: Lenoid Brezhnev, Yuri Andropov, Konstantin Chernenko.
d. Explain the politics of Mijail Gorbachov and his attempt to rescue socialism.
e. Describe the domino effect that began in Poland.
f. The fall of the Berlin Wall: German unification.
g. What social consequences have existed on account of the fall of the socialist
block?  Are the people happier or discontent?
h. Include a personal conclusion:  What failed…the economic system or the
decisions taken by socialist leaders?
