I. Innovation Contacts: Asst. Principal II-JHS, Grade 8 – Yulo Adviser, Parents, Selected Grade 8 Yulo Learners
II. Background and Rationale:
The ongoing upsurge of COVID-19 globally had created many changes in our way of living. This constituted an utmost challenge in our educational system. We are currently carrying out our tasks as educators during this pandemic but there are still a lot of concerns that are needed to be taken care of particularly in our learners’ comprehension level. It was heightened by the release of results of the Program for International Student Assessment (Pisa), which showed that the Philippines scored lowest in reading comprehension, and second to the lowest in math and science, among 79 countries and economies. It is in this light that the proponent would like to mediate these learning challenge experienced by the learners, parents, and guardians by launching this innovation project titled: “Basa, Tala, Sangguni (BTS)”. Furthermore, this project will address the learners of Grade 8 – Yulo who have difficulty in reading comprehension.
III. Specific Project Objectives
The main aim of this project is to improve the reading comprehension level of the selected grade 8 – Yulo students from 65% to 85% percent increase rate in reading comprehension by the end of the school year 2021-2022.
