Title of Project

Student Management System

Brief introduction
Student management systems serve academic institutions in a variety of ways, the most
important of which is centralized data administration and accessibility. Teachers will
be able to input, maintain, and access student data more simply. Parents and guardians
have a better understanding of how their children perform in class.

Teacher and other school or college professionals must enhance their student
management skills over time. It is defined as a collection of skills that every teacher
develops through time in order to properly manage their students. Getting into the
student’s heart is one of the most important aspects of management

Aim of the micro- project

Centralized all data of student so teacher will be maitain and access data of student
and guardians have better understanding how their children perform in the class

Intended course outcome

Thetheory,practicalexperiencesandrelevantsoftskillsassociatedwiththis course
are to betaught and implemented, so that the studentdemonstrates the
following industry oriented COs associated with theabove-mentioned
competency:

a. Select suitable Software Process model for software

development.

b. Prepare software requirement specifications.

8
c. Use Software modeling to create data designs.
d. Estimate size and cost of software product.

Abstract

Student Management System can be used by education institutes to maintain

the records of students easily. Achieving this objective is difficult using a
manual system as the information is scattered, can be redundant and
collecting relevant information may be very time consuming. All these
problems are solved using this project

Introduction

Student management systems serve academic institutions in a

variety of ways, the most important of which is centralized data
administration and accessibility. Teachers will be able to input,
maintain, and access student data more simply. Parents and
guardians have a better understanding of how their children
perform in class.

Background

The objective of Student information System is to allow the administrator of

any organization to edit and find out the personal details of a student and
allows the student to keep up to date his profile. It’ll also facilitate keeping all
the records of students, such as their id, name, mailing address, phone
number, DOB etc. So, all the information about a student will be available in a few
seconds.
Overall, it’ll make Student Information Management an easier job for the
administrator and the student of any organization.
The main purpose of this SRS document is to illustrate the requirements of
the project Student information System and is intended to help any
organization to maintain and manage its student’s personal data

12
Literature survey for problem identification and specification

The website Student Information System is aimed towards recording a

considerable number of student records and needs online assistance for
managing records of students. Website should be user-friendly, ‘quick to
learn’ and reliable website for the above purpose.
Student management System is intended to be a stand-alone product and
should not depend on the availability of another website. The system will
also have an administrator who has full-fledged rights with regards to
performing all actions related to control and management of the website.
We are decided to develop the project about Student Management System to
create the digital platform for teachers and School Management team to
handle the major work students easily and safely. And we are decided to
convert our project to develop in four stages 1. Planning 2. Designing 3.
Developing and 4. Testing
The data in this system are kept manually especially after the end of every
semester which makes it difficult to search data after a good number of
years when a student need to know some of his details. It takes time to
search on the pile (large) of files.

▪ Some of the problems are the following: -

• It is time consuming to record files
• Wastage of material
• Duplication of paper
• Delay in bringing document to those who need it
• No system for properly transferring or removing of inactive files.
• Files get lost
• Costly
• Not efficient
• Error prone
• Difficulty to integrate data
• Data redundancy
• Difficulty of locating & finding files dependent each other.

Now there are many student management systems that provide some
features as shown in next figure

This are the functionalities provided by the alkan university which lacks some
micro functionalities We will try to overcome this problem and to provide
micro functionalities to all the user

Proposed Detailed Methodology

➢ Data Collection
The methods used in data collection are questioners, site observation, interviews
and document of analysis that are references or indirectly related with them of the
student information management system.
✓ Site observation: actual observation of the organization.
✓ Interview: by asking the employee of the organization.
✓ Document analysis: reading the document available in the organization.

➢ Design Methodology
The team decides to use object–oriented methodology because of the flowing
reasons:
✓ Easier maintenance.
✓ It is known by the group members.
✓ Unaffected to change. Its flexibility: OOPs are really flexible in terms of using
implementations.
✓ Ease of understanding object-oriented models due to a consistent underlying
representation throughout the development process.
✓ Ease of modification and extensibility of object-oriented models.
✓ Ease of reuse of object components from previously designed systems.
