RELIGION And Anscestral spirits

Animism was widely practiced in the pre-colonial Philippines. This is a collection


of beliefs in the idea that the world is inhabited by spirits and supernatural
entities, both good and bad, and that respect must be accorded to them through
worship.-our pre colonial ancestors believed in animism.what is aminism? aminisim
is collection of beliefs and cultural mores or practices,aminism were widely
practiced specially in our pre colonial period

These entities are commonly called the anitos, referring to spirits including
household deities, deceased ancestors, nature-spirits, nymphs, and diwatas (minor
gods and demigods).-So our ancestors believs in myth creatures and spirits that
made aminism spread fast throughout the community.These Gods and demigods were from
stories that our pre colonial ancestors belived in

,Tagalog supreme deities, include Bathala and his children Adlaw, Mayari, and Tala,
or the Visayan deity Kan-Laon.before we start diety is a term that means gods and
godess.So the tagalog were are the ones who believd in Bathala Maykapal that they
call the originator and ruler of universe.While in the part of Visaya Kan-Laon is
the name of their ancient god and was worshiped by indigenous people as their
Supreme Ruler.

Folk healers were called the babaylan: shamans and spiritual leaders, and
mananambal: the medicine men.-Our pre colonial ancestrors believes that these
mystycal healers are powerful enough to heal and cure deseases{ thay were called
shamans and believed in communicating ,appeasing or harnesting the spirits of the
dead.
In 1380, Arabian trader Karim Al Makhdum reached the Sulu and later established
Islam and the first Muslim mosque in Barangay Tubig {Indangan on Simunul Island in
Tawi-Tawi.-The four pillars are regarded as sacred and have high status in
Philippine culture as they are {at least 400 years old and are the oldest known
Islamic artifacts in the entire Philippines.
Their belief principally lies the unity of God (‘Allah’ in Arabic), and Muhammad as
his final messenger in a series of{ revelations.-that means muhammad was the final
prophet that some of the filipinos were.

Spain introduced Christianity to the Philippines in 1565 with the arrival of Miguel
Lopez de Legaspi at the time of the Spanish arrival, they believe there's only one
God, and he created the heavens and the earth .The essence of Christianity revolves
around the life, death and Christian beliefs on the resurrection of Jesus.-So
christianity was intoduced to us and we believed in those spiritual beings and
Dieties.
