Task 1.  The charts below show the changes in ownership of electrical appliances and amount of time
spent doing housework in households in one country between 1920 and 2019.

Summaries the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons
where relevant.

The first line chart provides information about the application of electrical equipment in doing
housework while the second chart illustrates the number of hours spent in washing clothes, preparing
meals and cleaning during the period of 1920- 2019.

In general, there was an upward trend in using electrical appliances in households and the most
dramatic change was seen in the use of refrigerators. In contrast, the housework time decreased
gradually in the same period.

The rate of owning refrigerators started from nearly 0% and rose incredibly to the peak of 100% in 1980
then remained stable until 2019. On the other hand, the number of vacuum cleaner users increased
significantly by 70% and hit the highest point of 100% in 2000, meanwhile that number of washing
machines rose by around 20% - 30%, then hit the percentage of 70% in the year of 2019.

Regarding the number of hours spent on house chores, in 1920, 50 hours were spent per week on
washing, cooking, and cleaning. Since the development of electronic equipment for family use, the time
for housework dropped noticeably by 30 hours per week in 1960, and finally hit the lowest point of 10
hours weekly in 2019.
