Ans:- The child sees toys, balloons , garland ,sweets , a swing and a snake-charmer .
He gets attracted towards all these things. So, he lags behind.
Q2. When does he realise that he has lost his way? How have his anxiety and insecurity been described?
Ans:- The child asks his parents to have a ride on roundabout. Having no response he realises that he has lost
his way. He starts crying and runs here and there .
Q 3.Why does the lost child lose interest in the things that he had wanted earlier?
Ans:- The lost child loses interest in the things because he got lost in the fair. Now he first wants his parents.
Q 4.What do you think happens in the end? Does the child find his parents?
Ans:- Yes I feel that the child finds his parents at last.
Q 1.What are the two strange things the guru and his disciple find in the Kingdom of Fools?
Ans:- 1. People used to work during nights and sleep during days.
2. Everything was cheap and cost the same (one dudu).

Ans:- The disciple decided to stay in the Kingdom of Fools because everything was cheap there.
No; It was not a good idea because of the unpredictable behaviour of fools.

Ans: According to the king real culprit was the merchant. He escapes the punishment because he was too
thin to fit the stake.

Ans: The Guru's words of wisdom are that anything can happen anytime in the kingdom of fools. The disciple
remembers this word when he was about to be executed.
Q 1.Why do the courtiers call the prince ‘the Happy Prince’? Is he really happy? What does he see all around
him?
Ans:- The courtiers call the prince ‘the Happy Prince’ because he was happy when he was alive. He is not really
happy now as he can see misery of people all around him.
Q2. For whom does the prince send the sapphires and why?
Ans:- 1. The prince sent one of the sapphires for the playwright so that he could finish a play for the director in
time.
2. The prince sent his second sapphire to a poor match girl because her matches had fallen into the gutter.
Q 3. What does the swallow see when it was flying over the city?
Ans:- The swallow saw the rich enjoying in their beautiful houses and beggars begging at their gates. He also
saw a group of wandering children.
Q4. Why did the swallow not leave the prince and go to Egypt?
Ans:- The swallow was impressed with the charity and kindness of the happy prince. Now the Happy Prince had
become totally blind. So he left the idea of going to Egypt and decided to serve for the Prince.

Ans:- The leaden heart of the Happy Prince and the dead swallow are the two precious things mentioned in
the story. They are precious as they did various deeds for the welfare of people and sacrificed their lives for
the sake of others.
Q1. What is Johnsy’s illness? What can cure her, the medicine or the willingness to live?
Ans:- Johnsy was suffering from pneumonia. She had no will to live so the medicine had no effect on her. Her
willingness to live could cure her.
Q2. Do you think the feeling of depression Johnsy has is common among teenagers?
Ans:- Yes, feeling of depression can be common among teenagers. They find it difficult to deal with obstacles
and challenges of life.
4. Why was Margie doing badly in geography? What did the County Inspector do to help her?
Answer:- Margie was doing badly in geography because the mechanical teacher was very fast in
displaying the screen. . In order to help her, He slowed down the mechanical teacher’s speed upto an
average ten-year level. The mechanical teacher’s speed was controlled and adjusted according to the
IQ level of Margie.
Q1. Where does the traveller find himself? What problem does he face?
Answer:- The traveller finds himself in the yellow woods at a point where the two roads diverge. The
problem that he faces is that he cannot decide which road to take to continue his journey.
Q 2. Is there any difference between the two roads as the poet describes them?
Answer:- There is no difference in the roads as the poet describes them in stanzas two and three
except that the road he took was covered with grass looked to be not much used
Answer:- In the last two lines of the poem the poet says that there is a difference between the two
roads because the road he opted for was less travelled by other people

choice or accept it?)
Answer:- The last two lines of the poem reflect the courage to accept the challenge and take the right
decisions in life. The poet decided to take the path that was less travelled by the others because he
wanted to do something different in his life.
No, the poet does not seem to regret his choice.

Answer:- Her deafness was first noticed when she was eight-year-old. It was confirmed when she was
eleven.

Answer:- Ron Forbes helped her to continue with music. He began by tuning drums to different notes
and asked her to sense the sound.

Answer:- Bismillah Khan got his big break with the opening of the All India Radio in Lucknow in 1938.

historic?
Answer:- Bismillah Khan played the shehnai on 15 August 1947 at the Red Fort. He was the first Indian
to greet the nation with his musical instrument.
Question 5. Why did Bismillah Khan refuse to start a shehnai school in the U.S.A.?
Answer:- He refused to start a shehnai school in the USA because he never wanted to leave India.
Poem-Wind
Question 1. What does the poet say the wind god winnows?
Answer:- Winnower separates the grains of wheat from the chaff, similarly the wind God separates
the weak from the strong.
Question 3.What do the last four lines of the poem mean to you?
Answer:- The poet Inspires us to face the wind. It means we should make ourselves strong .to face the
challenges of life.
Lesson-3 The Little Girl
Question 1. Why was Kezia afraid of her father?
Answer:- Kezia was afraid of her father because he was very rude.
Question 3. Kezia’s efforts to please her father resulted in displeasing him very much. How did
this happen?
Answer: Kezie stitched three sides of the pin-cushion. She was confused at what to fill the cushion with.
Grandmother was not around. So, Kezie went to her parents’ room to ask her mother for some scrap. But, her
mother wasn’t there in the room.
Kezie then saw some sheets of papers on the bed table. She collected them all, tore them into small pieces and
stuffed the cushion with those pieces.
Her efforts to please her father resulted in displeasing him very much when at night her father searched for
those sheets of paper on the bed table. The sheets of paper had the speech for Port Authority. Her father
scolded and beat her with a ruler for touching things that did not belong to her.
Question 4. How does Kezia begin to see her father as a human being who needs her sympathy?
Answer: One day, when her mother and grandmother were at the hospital, Kezia was left at home with Alice,
their cook. At night, she had a nightmare. Shivering with fear, she called for her grandmother but saw her
father near her bed. He took her in his arms and carefully tucked her on his bed. He then lay down beside her.
Half asleep, she went close to him, snuggled her head under his arm and held onto his shirt tightly.
She saw her father go off to sleep before her. She understood that he had to work so hard every day which
made him too tired to behave like Mr Macdonald. She told his father that he had a big heart.

Rain on the Roof

Answer:- The poet likes to lie on bed in a cottage and listen to pitter-patter sound of the rain.

Answer:- The poet has single memory of his beloved mother. ‘Darling dreamers’ refers to the poet
and his siblings.
