LOGIC AND SET THEORY

NAME: Romy R. Castañeda SECTION: BSEd 2D – Mathematics

DIRECTIONS: Answer the following questions:

1. Provide evidences wherein LOGIC is significant to human life.

As we all know, logic is your own application towards how you see things
with your reasonable explanation. It is the time when you express different
Mathematical variety, and you are bound to connect yourselves with Math,
especially when it comes to Math problems or Math theories. This is fun, since
you are using your critical thinking to know what is not the perfect answer but the
very nearest answer to that question, since logically speaking, there is no perfect
answer to some questions, especially to those questions with “why” or with “what”
or “how” in Mathematics or with the questions that has answers “yes” or “no”,
since everyone of us needs to explore the world reliably and we can improve
ourselves when we see things that could be a mistake for us. For instance, we
could always debate a specific topic, and hence you need to win, you need to
think reasonably and logically to let them convince in your words, just like
“According to Bible…” We also use logic to know the answers in some rebus
puzzles or brain teasers, since the questions are very illustrational, and we need
some logic, and even creativity to make up the correct answer for those creative
questions.

2. Considering the situations nowadays, comment or cite evidences on the

statement: "ZOMBIES HAVE ZERO LOGIC AND ZERO COMMON SENSE."

ZOMBIES HAVE ZERO LOGIC AND ZERO COMMON SENSE. From

what I have understood, zombies could pertain into us, humans, wherein some of
us do not know how logic rules our mind and how common sense hit our skills in
responding and exploring. Zombies have this ability to move itself since it’s brain
were affected with just biting from people to people, so in that case, zombies
have low IQ and they are not using their brain to think, just that they work on their
own. In some ways, we can compare zombies to some people here, that their
brains sometimes are not working that hard that they kinda became lazy and
unmotivated. It’s not that they don’t have the ability to become reasonable on
explaining, maybe some of them are unconfident to argue since they are
introverts, but the ones who think that cellphone should be first than study, for
instance, that they can’t think of something logical, it could be called a zombie,
and no one can argue it. We cannot compare ourselves to a zombie that has
zero logic and common sense, but it is us who portray and execute that way,
especially in this time of pandemic, that we should be able to answer all activities
our teacher sent, but instead, we are killing our time with these cellphones and
just scroll on our social medias, which could be a reverse disadvantage for us
students who want to get good grades. It is not meant to us to have zero logic
and common sense, but it is always us who somewhat execute these negativities,
so we should improve on that part.

3. In your own words, provide sample statements using Proper Logical

Connectives, Operators, and Compound Propositions.

CONNECTIVES/OPERATORS (Types and Examples)

1. Negation Operator
e.g. If = I like mint chocolate flavored ice cream.
Then = I don’t like mint chocolate flavored ice cream.
2. Conjunction Operator
e.g. If Black is the color of my cellphone
And Blue is the color of my cellphone case.
Then Black is the color of my cellphone, and blue is the color of
my cellphone case.
3. Disjunction Operator
e.g. If I don’t have motivation to work today.
And It’s just raining loudly outside that’s why I can’t go out.
Then I don’t have motivation to work today or it’s just raining
loudly outside that’s why I can’t go out.
4. Exclusive-Or Operator
e.g. If I will keep on dancing.
And I will lose my spark on doing it.
Then I will either keep on dancing or lose my spark on doing it.
5. Implication Operator
e.g. If You will try saving your money
And You will go to your dream place soon.
Then If you will try saving your money, then you will go to your
dream place soon.

6. Biconditional Operator
e.g. If Waltz Disney plan to make another Disney Princess movie.
And It will be famous for another year.
Then If, and only if, Waltz Disney plan to make another Disney
Princess movie, it will be famous for another year.

ADDITIONAL EXAMPLE [Mixed Connectives and Operators]

e.g. If Korean Boy Band Seventeen will release a song this October.

It is another successful comeback for them.

And Fans will be thankful and happy again.

Then = If Korean Boyband Seventeen will release a song

this October, then it is another successful comeback
for them, and fans will be happy and thankful again.
