 What is PPG?
Project Punta Gracia (PPG) is a student-led initiative
that aids the coastal community of Purok Mangingisda.

PPG aims both to build a supportive platform for the

community on social media and to conduct a
fundraising campaign in order to procure waste
segregation facilities and communication tools for the
long-term health, sanitation, and safety of the
residents.
 Community profile
Purok Mangingisda is a
coastal community in
Punta Gracia, Tubay,
Agusan del Norte that
houses over 170 fishing
families with 50% of the
population being minors.

Every Saturday, they do

community clean-ups.
Community profile
The main source of
livelihood for the residents
is fishing. Most children,
especially those assigned
male at birth would
commonly be seen working
alongside their parents.
Girls and other boys go to
school by crossing the
hanging bridge.
The problem
The community lacks
sufficient resources for proper
waste segregation and
management. What they use
are makeshift sacks and
segregation facilities made
from wood, that are at risk of
degrading over time.
The problem
The residents want to
separate their plastics
from their fishheads. The
lack of proper waste
segregation can lead to
long-term health risks
from soil and water
contamination.
 We can work
together and
bridge Purok
Mangingisda
to a better
future.
