• TYPE OF INTERVENTION: Expansion of a medium-density popular PLAN DESERT AREA

economic residential district.

• SCALE OF THE INTERVENTION: Complex of 176 houses. DENSITY

• HOUSING TYPES: Two courtyard types intended for different social


classes.

• For both the social classes, it designs a space built around a main
courtyard, with all the spaces facing it and characterized by an
absolute closure towards the outside; court which, as regards the
simpler type, also acts as the main connection with the outside,
thus assuming a multipurpose character.

• From a compositional point of view, Correa assumes as a module a square with a side of 3
meters (which goes well with the size of the stone slabs)on the basis of which he designs the
two houses on one floor each. He then goes on to create some types of basic aggregation of
each type, varying the number of accommodations for each lot.

• In the typology intended for the more affluent
classes, the increase in square footage is not
excessive, but creates a more complex spatiality,
observing which the presence of a secondary
courtyard enclosed by the surrounding walls jumps to
the eye.
