OBJECTIVES (Experiment learning outcomes)

At the end of the experiment the student will learn:

 To know the reaction when mixing, Baking soda and Vinegar.

 To recap their knowledge about chemical mixture.
 To motivate them to try to experiment things in their home with caution.

INTRODUCTION
In our household. It’s common to see this chemical lying in our kitchen. They were
used as an ingredient in our food. Like, Baking soda or in chemical name NaCO3.
This was use as a significant ingredient of pastry foods. It gives tenderness and
softness so that it won’t look dry. Vinegar on the other hand, is mainly used to
preserve food and for the people who loves sour, they use vinegar to make a sauce
in their food. As we dig deeper. Baking soda and Vinegar have relative connection
to each other and in this discussion, we will find what will happen when we mix it.

MOTIVATION/PROMPTING QUESTION
 What is the reaction when Baking soda and Vinegar mixed?
 what is the 2 reactions when you mixed the compound?
 What do you call on the bubbles that float when you mixed
the compound?
 Why do we need to learn chemical mixture?

MATERIALS NEEDED
 200mL of vinegar
 10g of baking soda
 A plastic bottle
 A Facemask for protection

PROCEDURE
 Gather all the materials that are needed for the experiment.
 Wear you Face mask.
 First, Put the 10g of baking soda in the plastic bottle.
 Then, follow it by pouring 200mL of vinegar. The reaction will start the
moment you pour it.

DISCUSSION/RESULTS
As you pour the vinegar in the plastic bottle filled with baking soda, it will
suddenly create bubbles that will suddenly rise to the top as you pour vinegar on it.
Its like a volcanic eruption or when you shake a bottle filled with carbonated soft
drinks. As you observe deeply you will find two separate reactions. The first one is
the creation of carbonic acid and the sodium acetate which we can see under the
water. It is the remains of baking soda after the reaction. A crystalline and
colorless salt. These two reactions occurs because the hydrogen ions in the vinegar
reacts with the sodium and bicarbonate in baking soda. The 2nd reaction is the
decomposition of carbonic acid. As it formed in the first reaction, it will also
decompose immediately into two. The bubble that float which called Carbon
dioxide and the liquid which I think vinegar is called water. These to reacts
perfectly is due to their nature. Baking soda is a base and Vinegar is an acid. When
a base and an acid mix it will create a gas or what we called carbon dioxide just
like what I present.

CONCLUSION
When we mix these two compounds together. It reacts into two separate
reactions. The sodium acetate and the carbonic acid. The carbonic acid will
decompose immediately after the first reaction into two. The water and the carbon
dioxide.

RECOMMENDATION

 When you apply this in your home. Wear a facemask because maybe you are
allergic of its smell and this may cause you dizziness or vomiting.
 Use proper tools when doing it.
 Wash your hands properly when you’re done. To remove the lingering smell
of vinegar.
 Find a suitable places when doing it.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

I would like to thank my family, friends, teacher, and relatives for giving me
their support to finish this experiment. Especially my mother, who gives me advice
on how to overcome fear. My father, who also gives me money to buy this material
despite having financial problems because of this pandemic. My siblings and
relatives who help me edit the video because I’m still learning how to do it and my
friends who shares me some of their knowledge to create this report and you,
Ma’am who gives me this opportunity to share my knowledge about chemical
reactions. But the most person that I truly grateful is our Lord. He gave me this
knowledge on how to perform this, the skills which gives me the ability to express
all my ideas without embarrassment and the strength which he gives to my body to
continue to work despite this pandemic. Thank you so much to all of you and God
bless you all.
