Triggering Methods in Flip Flop

 Sequential circuit is nothing but the combinational circuit with the memory.

 The state of the combinational circuit is stored in the memory. The memory is the latch or the

flip flops.

 The memory, which is a latch or flip flop, is given a clock pulse. The clock pulse is the control

input.

 We need to trigger the memory element in the sequential circuit.

 The state that is stored in this latch or flip flop is switched (MEANING: changed from the one

state to the other state depending upon the input and previous state stored in it) by the change

in the control input in in this clock pulse when changes, it will cause the changes in ledges or flip

flops.

 What will change the nature of flip flop is the stored state. Whatever the state of the circuit will

be changed depending upon the clock pulse.

 There are different types of triggering method.

 The duty cycle of the clock is 50%. For the different portion of the clock, we can have the

triggering of latches or flip flop.

 The two types of triggering methods are Level Triggering and Edge Triggering.

 In Level Triggering, whenever the clock remains in high, there will be transition in your latches or

flip flop.

 In Edge Triggering, there is two types: the Positive Edge Triggering and the Negative Edge

Triggering.

 In Positive Edge Triggering, the memory element triggers when the clock goes from low to high.
 In Negative Edge Triggering, the memory element triggers when the clock goes from high to low.
