1. What is MORALITY? Explain your answer.

Morality teaching morally means that teachers conduct themselves in ways that are
moral and ethical and that they infuse their practice with moral values of fairness, honesty,
kindness, responsibility, courage, trust and respect, to name but a few. Teaching morality
means that teachers impart moral messages and lessons to students, by way of furthering
students’ moral growth and development.

2. What are the stages of Kolhberg’s model of moral development? Explain Each.

A. Preconditional Level- a child’s sense of morality is externally controlled.

Stage 1 PUNISHMENT AND OBEDIENT ORIENTATION- focuses on the child’s

desire to obey rules and avoid being punished.

Stage 2 INSTRUMENTAL ORIENTATION- expresses the “what’s in it for me?”

position, in which right behavior is defined by whatever the individual believes to be in their best
interest.

B. Conventional Level- a child’s sense of morality is tied to personal and societal

relationships.

Stage 1 INTERPERSONAL CONCORDANCE ORIENTATION- children want the

approval of others and act in ways to avoid disapproval.

Stage 2 LAW AND ORDER ORIENTATION- the child blindly accepts rules and
convention because of their importance in maintaining a functioning society.

C. Postconventional Level- a person’s sense of morality is defined in terms of more

abstract principles and values.

Stage 1 SOCIAL CONTRACT, LEGALISTIC ORIENTATION- the world is viewed

as holding different opinions, rights and values.

Stage 2 UNIVERSAL AND ETHICAL PRINCIPLES- moral reasoning is based on

abstract reasoning using universal ethical principles.

3. What is Assessment? Explain

Assessment is the ongoing process of interpreting the evidence of what a student can
do. It means finding out what students know and are able to do. Its emphasis is on observation
of what is happening now. Assessment will continue to provide valuable information for
important decision making, but they are also valuable teaching tools that should be used to
promote meaningful learning for all students.

4. What is Evaluation?

Evaluation is the process of interpreting the evidence and making judgments and
decisions based on the evidence. It involves value judgment-comparing the fact about the
child’s present understanding whit what ought to be the desired outcome of instruction.
Evaluation helps teachers to assess the effectiveness of their teaching and to make grading
decisions related to student achievement.

5. Of what significance is assessment to instruction?

The main goal of classroom assessment is to obtain valid and reliable information about
student achievement, assessment procedures also assist in appraising the effectiveness of the
instruction. A well-designed assessment plan helps you to optimize your teaching by identifying
your own strengths and weaknesses.

The significance of assessment cannot be doubted as it attempts to assess student

learning. As pointed by Burke, assessment:

- sets standards which serve as the basis in evaluating learning.

- monitors the quality of education and the effectiveness of a program

- identifies the strengths and weakness of programs and priorities

- helps in making group decisions, gives feedback and determines grades; and

- helps formulating policies.

6. What are the purposes of assessment?

a. To assist in the student learning. To assess and improve student learning is the
function usually first thought of when speaking of assessment.

b. To identify children’s strengths and weakness. Identification and assessment of

children’s strengths and weaknesses are necessary to structure and restructure the learning
activities, and to restructure the curriculum.

c. To assess the effectiveness of a particular instructional strategy. It is important

to know how well a particular strategy helps accomplish a particular goal or objective.

d. To assess and improve the effectiveness of curriculum programs. Committees

composed of teachers and administrators, parents and students and other members of the
school and community continually assess components of the curriculum.

e. To assess and improve teaching effectiveness. To improve student learning,

teachers are periodically evaluated on the basis of (a) their commitment to working with
students; (b) their ability to cope with students at a particular age, development, or grade level;
(c) the achievement of subject matter knowledge by the students they teach; (d) their ability to
show mastery of appropriate instructional techniques.

f. To provide data that assist in decision making about a student’s future.

Assessment of student, achievement is important in guiding decision making about course and
program placement, promotion, school transfer, class standing, eligibility for honors and
scholarships, and career planning.

g. To provide data in order to communicate with and involve parents/guardians in

their children’s learning. Parents, guardians, communities and school boards all share
accountability for the effectiveness of learning of children.

7. What are the steps in evaluation process? Discuss each

a. Preparation. Determine the kind of information needed, as how and when to collect it.

b. Information Collecting. Select techniques for gathering a variety of information as

accurately as possible.

c. Making Judgment. Compare information against selected criteria to make judgments.

d. Decision Making. Reach conclusion based on formed judgment.

8. What are the principles in designing an assessment system creating test?

A. Assess all instructional objectives. Tests should be in harmony with the teacher’s
instructional objectives.

B. Cover all cognitive domains. A good test does not focus entirely on one type of
objective such as factual recall; rather it measures a representative sample of the teacher’s
learning objectives.

C. Use appropriate test items. A good test includes items that are most appropriate dor
a particular objective.

D. Make tests valid, reliable and fair. A test is considered reliable when it produces
dependable, consistent scores for persons who take it more than once over a period of time. A
test is said to be valid when it measures what it claims to measure. Further, a test is fair if it
offers all students the same chance of doing well and if it does not discriminate against a
particular group of students because of their race, ethnicity or gender.

9. What is a Rubric?

Rubrics are stating scales that define and differentiate levels of performance. These
measure degrees of competencies of attributes identify all the needed attributes of quality or
development in a process, product, or performance; and define different levels of each of these
attributes. These are scoring guides that identify the characteristics of students work at different
levels of quality.
10. What is thematic teaching?

Thematic teaching starts with the identification of a theme, the underlying concept that
allows for the structure and organization of specific content across disciplines. The concepts
are drawn from multidiscipline enrich the knowledge content of the thematic units of instruction.

II. Write a lesson plan in your favorite subject using 4A’s or 5A’s.

Banghay-Aralin sa Araling Panlipunan Para sa Ika-Siyam na baitang

I. Mga Layunin

II. Nilalaman

A. Paksa: Pangangailangan at Kagustuhan

C. Mga Kagamitan: Mga larawan, visual aids, play money, cut-outs

III. Pamamaraan

A. Panimulang Gawain

1. Panalangin

2. Pagbati

3. Pagtala
4. Balik-Aral

B. Pagganyak

produkto at presyo nito.
kuryente kada buwan.
