I. Identifying information
II. Rationale
Organic fertilizers are mineral sources that are naturally available and contain a
moderate amount of plant essential nutrients. They are capable of mitigating the issues
caused by synthetic fertilizers. They reduce the need for synthetic fertilizers to be
applied on a regular basis in order to maintain soil fertility. They gradually release
nutrients into the soil solution while maintaining nutrient balance for crop plant growth.
They also provide an efficient energy source for soil microbes, which improves soil
structure and crop growth. Organic fertilizers are generally thought to be slow-releasing
fertilizers that contain a high concentration of trace elements. They are more
environmentally friendly alternatives to chemical fertilizer.
As part of the requirements of the students for the subject. The proponents came
up with the concept of sharing a basic knowledge about agriculture particularly focusing
on educating the students regarding Organic Fertilizer. The webinar will be beneficial to
the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture students. It can be used for future application and
enhancing their skills and knowledge in promoting Organic Fertilizers to the community.
In order to bridge the knowledge to share with other people.
Description of the Activity:
The webinar on Organic Fertilizers is a half-day activity composed of Lecture-
discussion and video presentation on Organic Fertilizers. The webinar is two-hour
lecture discussion composed of four (4) basic topics which includes “Definition of
Organic Fertilizers”, “Uses of Organic Fertilizers, “types of Organic Fertilizers”, “how to
make organic fertilizers”. After the discussion, a video presentation on a step-by-step
procedure of making the Organic Fertilizers will be shown.
