EP11202 DF Pressure&Density
EP11202 DF Pressure&Density
Designed for
Newly recruited Production Chemists working with drilling fluids and Well Engineers and Production Technologists prior to their initial
hands on well-site training. Also recommended for all staff who will be assigned to the well-site for operational duties (e.g. Well-site
Petroleum Engineers).
Objectives
At the end of this module, participants should be able to:
? Describe the origin of abnormal downhole pressures
? Describe the relationship between overburden stress, formation pressure and rock strength
? List the critical pressure issues that need to be addressed in designing a well
? Describe the commonly used density and pressure gradients
? List the commonly used weighting materials and their potential slurry density range
? Describe any HSE issues associated with the use of weighting materials
Subjects
? Functions of mud
? Pore pressure
? Rock stress
? Abnormal stresses
? PZ plots
? Abnormal pressures
? Pore pressure prediction, 'dc' exponent
? Weighting materials
Notes
There are four other modules in the Drilling Fluids series.
