II. ACTIVITY 1: PROLOGUE REELS


A. Participants:
7th to 12th

B. Objectives:
1. To arouse students’ interests in reading variety of materials
2. To develop an ever-improving capability to use English to think
and communicate; to acquire, develop and apply knowledge
3. To encourage higher-level thinking and creativity through ICT,
particularly in video-editing and use of social media.
4. To encourage students to become promoters of the use of English
language;
C. Guidelines and Mechanics
1. Students must create a prologue of a book of their interest. This can be
done individually, by pair, or by group of 3.
2. The point of view of the prologue should be from one of the characters
from the book.
3. Students must portray the character chosen in delivering the prologue.
(Clothes, voice, attitude, etc.)
4. Each video must be 30-60 seconds long.
5. Prior to submission of video, drafts/scripts must be submitted and
approved by their English teacher.
6. Videos must be uploaded in their Instagram account. Captions must

7. All outputs will be marked and recorded as a project in the
English subject.
8. Top 3 entries will be selected per class to be ranked and judged in
the finals.
9. There will be three winners per level.
10. The winning entries will be reposted by the school’s official
accounts.

III. ACTIVITY 3: SHS SPOKEN POETRY


A. PARTICIPANTS:
Grades 10 - 12 students

B. OBJECTIVES:
1. To write a spoken word or poetry based on the theme of their assigned novel
2. To deliver the poetry or spoken word rhythmically with clever intonation and
performing arts techniques
3. To enhance their digital technology and creative skills through video recording
and video editing
4. To provide a meaningful output that displays an emotional connection with the
topic and engages audience to take action

C. GUIDELINES:
1. Each student is expected to write an emotional piece or a poem based on the
theme of their assigned novel. The piece or poem should contain 4 -10 stanzas
of 4 lines each.

2. All poems or emotional pieces should be approved by the English teacher. The
written output will be recorded as a quiz and a classwork.

3. Then students start to practice delivering the spoken poetry, record their
performance and edit their video. The video will be recorded as a project and K4.
4. Sounds, instrumental or music background is allowed to complement the
delivery.
5. The spoken poetry video should run for 2 - 3 minutes only.
6. The submission of the video is on 18th October while the posting of the video
will be on the 22nd October.
7. The video should be posted in the student’s personal IG account on 22nd
October, include the official hashtag #misgsreadingweek2021 and tag
@mis_grandsurya and @misgs_studentactivities.
8. The English teacher will choose the Top 12 per grade level to be viewed and
judged by 2 teachers and JHS students on 21st October.
9. Three winners per level will be selected. Announcement of winners will be on the
22nd October. The winning entries will be reposted by the school’s IG accounts.
