Forces are FUN to experiment with and play with.   Here are some of the activities I
do for each force:

 Static force – rub a balloon on your hair to see your hair stand up and  the
balloon stick to the wall
 Magnetic force – use magnets to move objects inside a bottle
 Gravitational force – Egg drop!   (I make a STEM project where students
must make a parachute to protect the egg from breaking when dropped)
*USE hard-boiled eggs!
 Buoyancy – Build a boat that will hold 100 pennies
 Muscular force – Tug of war (I pick the teams!)
 Friction – Scooter boards in gym class
There are many examples of push and pull forces we use every day.

 Playground – Take a walk to your playground.  Observe the various push

and pull forces and record them on a chart paper in class.
 Community – Think about your community and the forces you may see at
a police station, the park, a football game or the grocery store.
 Hobbies and Activities – Students identify what they like to do in their
spare time and what forces are at play in their hobbies?
