Impact Opportunity
Q) Write a brief description of an Impact Opportunity, either for an idea that you have or for
an established organization. It should be no longer than 200 words, and it should include
evidence and cited sources where appropriate - hyperlinks are a great approach. Think
about the following questions:
●     What is the specific problem you are focused on?
●     Why is this a problem? Why does it exist or persist?
●     How many people are affected in a similar context?
Solution:

Forus health: Started by K Chandrasekher was an innovative product which helped in

improving early detection of preventable blindness. Preventable blindness affects
millions of people around the world. This scenario is further compounded by the
poor ratio of ophthalmologists to patients in many countries across the world.
Globally, at least 1 billion people have a near or distance vision impairment that
could have been prevented or has yet to be addressed. This 1 billion people include
those with moderate or severe distance vision impairment or blindness caused due
to unaddressed refractive error, near vision impairment caused by unaddressed
presbyopia etc. With the help of innovation in technology and creative business
model forcus has developed a sustainable access to vision care. Due to its ease of
use and superior technical and imaging capabilities, the device has gained extensive
recognition within the Indian ophthalmic community and has also received
widespread traction globally, with more than 220 installations across 14 countries till
date and has since screened 600,000 eyes worldwide.
