The line graph presents data on the number of people fleeing from six countries
from 2011 to 2020.
Overall, as is evident from the graph, the number of refugees from Afghanistan
and Myanmar had climbed by a fair margin before a period of stagnancy, while
this figures for South Sudan and DRC remained stable throughout the period. It
is also noteworthy that only Syria and Venezuela saw considerable growth.
The figure in Syria, which was minimal in 2011, soared to 6.7 million in 2018,
far surpassing all others, and stabilized after that. With regards to Venezuela,
the number of refugees had begun to climb steadily since 2016, peaking at about
4.5 million in 2018 before declining mildly by half a million in 2020.
On the other hand, in Afghanistan, for example, the number of refugees
experienced stagnancy from 2011 to 2015, rose moderately to about 2.2 million
in 2017, and stabilized again afterwards. Myanmar followed the same pattern,
standing at roughly 1 million for 5 years before increasing moderately for the
first time by 2017 and levelling off later on at 1.1 million. In contrast, the
number of displaced citizens in South Sudan and DRC remained relatively
constant at around 2.6 million and 1 million respectively.
