Visiting the Learning Resource Center
OBSERVE
Name of Center Observed: BISCAST LIBRARY
Date of Observation: August 2019
Name of Observer: NORBERTO, GABRIEL F.
Course/ Year/ School: BTVTED- Food Servicing Management 4, BISCAST
Are the learning resources/ materials arranged properly according to their function and
characteristics?
- YES
Do the guidelines and procedures facilitate easy access to the materials by the
teachers? Why? Why not?
- YES, during face-to-face classes, I've noticed that librarians, student support
staff, and other staff involved inside the library are very hands-on; you can see
them that they are really working and busy in trying to organize books and other
educational resources, and they also entertain students who have concerns or in
need of assistance.
What are the strengths of this Learning Resource Center?
- Its merits include the comprehensive learning materials that students can access,
the hands-on librarian, and the serene environment you may enjoy while inside
the library because everything is well-organized.
What are its weaknesses?
- The internet connection is quite weak and limited when it comes to online
access. Its system is disorganized, and students can't readily use internet
connections when needed since students can still request a password written on
a piece of paper before accessing the internet, and in this circumstance, students
can't easily get access to the internet.
What suggestions can you make?
- To better the internet access, schools should prioritize issues such as poor
internet connections, as well as their system and procedures for using the
internet. Because it has a significant impact on the learners' studies.
REFLECT
1. Which of the materials in the Learning Resource Center caught your interest the
most? Why?
- The e-learning tablet and PC because they provide faster access to information,
allowing students to quickly search the precise topic or lesson that they need.
OBSERVE
Class Observation Guide
Read the following question and instruction carefully before you observe.
1. What is the lesson about?
2. What visual aids/ materials/ learning resources is the teacher using?
3. Observe and take notes on how the teacher presents/ uses the learning
resources.
4. Closely observe the learners’ response to the teacher’s use of learning
resources. Listen to their verbal responses. What do their response indicate? Do
their responses show attentiveness, eagerness and understanding?
5. Focus on their non-verbal responses. Are they learning and are they showing
their interest in the lesson and in the materials? Are they looking towards the
direction of the teacher and the materials? Do their actions show attentiveness,
eagerness and understanding?
REFLECT
1. Put yourself in the place of the teacher. What would you do similarly and what
would you do differently if you would teach the same lesson to the same group of
students? Why?
- I want to recreate her manner in which she delivers the lesson; you can perceive
her expertise. She's relaxed, well-prepared, and competent. She can truly
respond to learners' queries correctly. I also want to integrate the use of flash
quiz in my Ppt presentation, wherein I will flash fun quiz question or trivia
questions in my presentation screen and let them answer it and they will get
rewarded. This is for me to catch the attention of the student, without giving them
difficulties.
