INTRODUCTION
Snake plants exchanges oxygen and carbon dioxide using the crassulacean acid
metabolism process, which allows them to withstand drought.
Dracaena trifasciata yields hemp, a strong plant fiber once used to make bowstrings.
It is now used predominantly as an ornamental plant, outdoors in warmer climates, and
indoors as a house plant in cooler climates.
This study introduced a new organic way to make fertilizer using goat manure and
dried leaves.
Goat manure is virtually odorless and is beneficial for the soil. This manure contains
adequate amounts of the nutrients that plants need for optimal growth, especially when
the goats have bed in stalls. As urine collects in goat droppings, the manure retains
more nitrogen, thus increasing its fertilizing potency.
Dried leaves is the leaves of a tree or plant that the parts are flat, thin, and usually
brown because the tree or plant doesn’t have the water in its system to replenish the
moisture lost in the leaves. It can also become an ingredient in a good compost, which
is better than chemical fertilizer. Compost nourishes plants, preserves moisture in the
soil, helps spread fertilizer, facilitates weeding, and helps prevent diseases.
The study focuses on the effectiveness of goat manure and dried leaves in the
growth of snake plant (Dracaena trifasciata). Thus, the study is pursued.
The main goal of this study is to determine the effectiveness of goat manure and
dried leaves in the growth of snake plant (Dracaena trifasciata). This study imposes no
harm to the snake plant and there’s little to no risk of toxic buildups of chemicals and
salts that can be deadly to plants.
1. Identify the effectiveness of goat manure and dried leaves as a fertilizer for snake
plant (Dracaena trifasciata)
2. Show different types of fertilizer for fertilizing plants using organic materials such as
goat manure and dried leaves.
3. Compare the quality of the snake plants (Dracaena trifasciata) treated with goat
manure and dried leaves

WHAT I CAN DO
Activity 1:
Fertilizer is essential in modern farming and almost all farmers depend on it to keep
fields healthy and productive. The significance of this study is that if we can somehow
prove our study, we can find at least one fertilizer for some of the plants. Manure
fertilizers make crops grow faster and bigger. Therefore, this study finds another
fertilizer with the use of goat manure and dried leaves that may help plants to grow. It
can benefit to the farmers, as well as those people who are plant lovers.
The scope of this study is to determine whether the mixture of goat manure and
dried leaves affect the growth of a snake plant. The limitation of the study is that the
researchers vary the amount of goat manure and dried leaves. Prior experimentation is
highly needed. Moreover, since the amount of goat manure and dried leaves are
different from every household, there may be a time difference in the growth of the
snake plant. The researchers’ way in determining the growth of a snake plant, since we
are all at our different houses due to the pandemic, one must do the experiment in order
for the amount of dried leaves to be exact.
C. Definition of Terms
2. Goat manure – is feces of a goat that is hard and oval-shaped little balls with a
dark brown color.
3. Dry leaves – is the leaves of a tree or plant that the parts are flat, thin, dry, and
usually brown.
