1) Traditionally, Easter is celebrated in spring, and the British usually wear only new clothes on this

day, thus symbolizing the arrival of spring, the flourishing of all living things and the departure of
inclement weather. During Easter, schools are closed for a 2-week vacation. And for adults, they
make official weekends from Good Friday to Bright Monday.
2) On the last Friday before Easter (Good Friday), solemn services are held in churches.
3) On this day, cross buns are baked with raisins and candied fruit or currants inside, the top of
these buns is cut in the form of a cross (hence the name), symbolizing the resurrection of Jesus.
According to legend, such buns have medicinal properties and even ward off evil spirits from the
house.
4) On Palm Sunday morning, the whole family of the British go to church and meet the sunrise
there.
As in our country, in Great Britain it is customary to collect easter baskets with food, colored
eggs, chocolate, homemade cakes for Easter. In the church, the priest consecrates all these
baskets, and then in the family circle at the festive table all these dishes are eaten together.
5) Especially for a festive dinner, the British beautifully decorate the house - in a spring festive, airy
and gentle way, preferring white, pink, green colors. An Easter basket with flowers is always
placed in the middle of the set table, and colorful Easter eggs are laid out in the corners of the
table.
6) As with us, in the UK, Easter cannot be imagined without colored Easter eggs. The eggs painted
red represent the blood of Jesus, and the eggs painted green represent his holiness. Today, the
British have a new tradition - to give each other chocolate surprise eggs, which may contain
various sweets, gummies or souvenirs.
7) They bake on Easter and cakes, but they look different from ours - much lower and more
resemble cupcakes. On top, cakes are decorated with colored mastic, sesame and almonds.
in addition to eggs and pastries, there is also roasted lamb with vegetables, meatballs, bacon
glazed with apple and potatoes, smoked ham.
8) The symbol of Easter in Great Britain was the Easter rabbit, representing fecundity and
abundance.
9) According to belief, it is he who brings eggs to obedient and good children, hides them in
different places in the house, so that the children then look for treats. Whoever finds the most
eggs will also receive a reward.
10) An interesting tradition on this day in Great Britain is Easter dancers, or Morris Dancer. These
are men who dress up in Robin Hood costume and dance on the streets, in parks, near churches.
As we can see, Easter is celebrated in England very cheerfully.
