I can do more breathing exercises at the beginning so the student can get more
comfortable with taking deeper breaths in a quicker amount of time.

Assessments Student is getting better at breathing, but they need to open up more. They are insecure
about their voice.

Homework/Independent

clarity.

input, modeling, and checking for understanding:
Unlike the last vocal lesson, the warm-ups will be sung at a steady tempo. The
20 min student will do a pentascale warm-up with open vowels (“yah-yah”, “yoh-
yoh”, “yoo-yoo”) to encourage singing with a relaxed mouth and flexible jaw.

with more ease.

Differentiation What can be done differently with this lesson to meet the needs of student that are demonstrating difficulty with
Strategies comprehension; what modifications to instruction, guided practice, and independent practice could be done to meet
the unique needs of the student?
Since the lesson was over Zoom, the connection was going in and out and the instruction
could have been unclear. The next lesson will be in person so both of us can understand
each other better. However, the student must practice.
Assessments The tone was better, but I can tell the student was not practicing. The breathing was
better.

Homework/Independent
Practice * The student must practice singing with a relaxed mouth and flexible jaw to sing with less
tension. To help with that, the student should be chewing while humming to open up
space in the back of the mouth.
Notes The student’s tone may not have sounded the best since the lesson was over Zoom.

This is the last lesson. I will not be meeting with the student anymore, but to improve,
they should be doing everything we have done for the past three lessons.

Assessments The student’s tone clarity has improved and they are breathing properly. The student
seems less insecure when singing, but there is always room for improvement.
