Reading comprehension: Get in the car!

My son David left school five years ago. Last week, he got in touch with an old school
friend, Stefan. He invited Stefan to our house.
I decided to go out to let them have the house
to themselves. I decided to go to town and buy
a new top and a skirt. As I was driving along our
lane, I saw Stefan. He was walking the six miles
from his place to ours. He had a moustache and
a beard. He was wearing red shorts and a yellow
T-shirt. I pulled over. I greeted him and I
asked him if he wanted a lift. ‘Come on, get in the car!’ I said, ‘I will drive you the last
mile to the house.’ Stefan said no thank you, he was fine, he did not want a lift to my
house. When I got home three hours later, I saw Stefan with my son David. He had no
moustache and no beard. He was wearing jeans and a sweatshirt. I don’t know who that
man on our lane was, but it certainly wasn’t Stefan! By Lilian
