Can We Be Happy in An Unjust Society? How?

The world is still enduring injustice in poverty and inequality (Do we Live in Unjust
World?, 2003, p. 2). It is evident that these social issues affect a particular country's
economic and political status, and they are still emerging in different parts of the world
in this century. People cannot live in an unjust society, but they are still striving to live
for them to survive in this world.

An unjust society contradicts the principles of justice and fairness. It is a society

marked by several social inequities. Social injustices are a term that refers to how unfair
action occurs in a community. Unjust society is defined by the dominant population's
inequality toward certain persons depending on their position of power. In an unjust
society, the equal receive unequal treatment while the unequal receive equal treatment.
Discrimination, homophobia, and ageism are the three primary forms of social injustice
found in an unjust society. Unjust societies have a damaging influence on individuals.
These social inequalities that occur within such societies result in conditions detrimental
to an individual's health and the group's health. It denies groups of people's opportunity
to meet their physiological needs and goes against fundamental human rights. It is a lie to
tell that we can be happy in an unjust society that the power of equity is undetectable.
