Anatomy

 Histology
 Definition :
The word “histology” came from the Greek “histo -” meaning tissue “logos”, treatise.
The study of the form of structures seen under the microscope (light, electron, infrared) is called
histology also called microscopic anatomy.

 Importance :
 We discuss that how tissues are structured and how they work.
 It also helps in figuring out what causes certain diseases, and whether the treatment
has worked.
 Functions :
 It helps in understanding functions and structure of organs and systems.
 It Demonstrate the functions of different types of epithelial tissues.
 Example :
Histology of spleen.

 Types:
There are four basic types of animal tissues:-
1. Muscle tissue
2. Nervous tissue
3. Connective tissue
4. Epithelial tissue
 Embryology
 Definition :
The branch of biology that studies embryos and their development.
 Example :
The study of how human embryos develop from fertilization to birth is an example of
embryology .

 Importance :
 Embryology is a vital branch of biological studies because an understanding
of the growth and development of a species before birth can shed light on
how it involved and how various species are related.
 Functions :
 It helps to understand the changes taking place in the embryo before birth.
 Studying the disorder taking place in it.

 Myology
 Definition :
It is the study of the whole muscular system which includes the study of structure,
function and diseases of muscles.
 Importance :
Myology is important to understand functioning of muscles. It have different types
of muscles.
1. Cardiac muscle
2. Smooth muscle
3. Skeletal muscle
 Function :
It actually helps to understand the working of muscle on cellular level.

 Angiology
 Definition:
The branch of medical science that studies the blood and lymph vessels and their
disorders.
 Functions:
 Preventing cardiovascular diseases such as heart attack and stroke.
 Function and working of blood vessels.

 Arthology
 Definition:
The prefix “artho” refers to joints. Arthology is the science concerned with study of
anatomy, functions dysfunction and treatment of joints and articulations.
 Functions:
 To study different types of joints and their disorders.
 Also helps movements of joints.
