University of Puerto Rico at Ponce English Department ENGL 4021 M03 MINUTES Meeting Date: August 24, 2021 Call to Order: A regular meeting of the Course ENGL 4021 M03 of the University of Puerto Rico at Ponce was held in room F-3 on August 24, 2021. The meeting convened at 9:00am, Professor LeCompte presiding and Jorlane M. De Jesus Ramirez, secretary. The professor did not take attendance. NL 2 Approval of Minutes: Log Minutes of the August 19, 2021, meeting were approved after corrections. Matters Discuss 1. Professor LeCompte discussed the characteristics of a technical document and their definitions. She explained that a technical document should have clarity, accuracy, comprehensiveness, accessibility, conciseness, and correctness. 2, The professor asked the class to pair up into groups of two students to apply the characteristics. She gave a wooden mousetrap to each group. They had to make the trap work and write instructions of how to use it, taking into consideration the characteristics of a technical document. 3. LeCompte asked a group that had, atleast, two steps to read their instructions, She tried to follow the instructions and gave general suggestions 4 Because of the time limit, the professor proposed that the students should finish the activity outside of class and postponed the discussion for the next meeting, 5, Professor LeCompte assigned a Venn diagram as homework for the next class. She explained that it should include three circles, comparing and contrasting the wooden mousetrap, the glue mousetrap, and a humane method to catch a mouse.
