There Once Was a Great Many

There once was a great many of the breed

They roamed around as they pleased
Here and there they had no cares
No worries just living carefree

One day the sky grew red

The ground trembled and the wind grew still
The breed did not see they did not know
The great danger that was upon them in the field

There once was a great many of the breed

Then man came and thinning the flock
The great many number was now beginning to dwell
Disappearing to entertain the killing of machine

The one great killer of the magnificent breed

Man and his greedy machinations
Destroying and thinning and killing the beauty
There once was many now there are few

There once was a great many of the breed

The people of the land only killed what the needed
Then white man came with their hunting sport
Now there are few instead of many
