Course Description: This course deals with nursing theories as applied to nursing practice on the aspect of the metaparadigm, person, health
environment and nursing. Likewise, it includes other theories relevant to nursing. The learner are expected to use these
theories as basis and guide in nursing practice.

Program Outcomes:

1. Apply knowledge of physical, social, natural and health sciences and humanities in the practice of nursing.
2. Apply guidelines and principles of evidenced based practice in the delivery of care.
3. Communicate effectively in speaking and writing and presenting using culturally appropriate language
4. Work effectively in collaboration with inter-intra and multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams.
5. Practice beginning management and leadership skills in the delivery of client care using a system approach.
6. Engaged in lifelong learning with a passion to keep current national and global development, in general and nursing and health
development in particular.
7. Demonstrate responsible citizenship and pride of being a Filipino.
8. Apply techno-intelligent care system and processes in health care delivery.
9. Adopt the nursing care values in the practice of profession.

Level Outcomes:
This course introduces you to the profession of nursing as a practice discipline. Major worldviews influencing nursing practice will be
addressed, with the inclusion of both nursing and non-nursing theories. The central concepts of health, person, environment, nursing, and caring
will be explored. Theoretical emphasis will be placed on theories related to the development of therapeutic relationships, modes of effective
communication, and nursing therapeutics.

Course Outcomes:
At the end of the course, you will be able to:

1. Able to apply knowledge of physical, social, natural and health sciences and humanities in the practice of nursing.
2. Apply appropriate nursing concepts and actions holistically and comprehensively
3. Appreciate the value of evidenced based nursing practice in the application of nursing and related models / theories.
4. Work effectively in collaboration with inter-intra and multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams in relation to nursing practice.
5. Explain management and leadership concepts and principles in selected theories
6. Assume responsibility for lifelong learning own personal development and maintenance of competence
7. Appreciate the value of evidence based nursing practice in the application of nursing and related models/ theories
8. Engage in lifelong learning with a passion to keep current with national and global developments in general and nursing and health
developments in particular.
9. Exemplify love for country in service of the Filipinos.

Introduction:

This course guide is designed to help you study theories and its utility as the basis for professional nursing practice. Related issues, such as the
history of nursing theory development and its influence on the development of nursing knowledge, will also be addressed. The major paradigms
influencing current nursing practice will be studied. The merits of the use of a theoretical framework to direct the processes of assessment, clinical
judgment, systematic care planning and evaluation will be explored.

This section tells you the general guidelines for completing this learning packet. For specific guidelines and information, kindly review your
student manual or your module guide (if applicable).

1. The class code for Google Classroom specific for this course is to be given by your instructor during the class orientation.
2. Schedule properly your reading assignments and your activity accomplishments.
3. Make sure that you do things one at a time. Read the materials and watch the videos over and over until you are able to get the point of the
lesson
4. You will be assessed through formative and summative methods. Kindly see requirements section at the end of this learning packet.
5. You are expected to submit your activities/ exams on the dates indicated in this learning packet. Late submission of activities/ exams will
be dealt based on classroom policies.
6. Your scores for assignments will be notified to you throughout your period of study.
7. You can learn a great deal from discussing aspects of your learning packet with others. Opinions and insights formed while discussing with
other people are no less valuable than those you form while reading books or listening to lectures. There’s nothing wrong in discussing with
your classmates but it should be done before you begin your individual activities. But when you sit down and do individual activities you are
expected to work alone and not to use the work of others (in its entirety or in part) as if it is your own.
8. The instructor checks your assignments against the work of other students and against internet sources and other published material. If
you submit an assignment that contains work that is not your own without proper referencing and claiming the work of other as your own,

Nurses have always been exposed to change.
Flexibility is necessary for our survival as a nurse and
especially in this era of Covid-19 pandemic. Many of
us were exposed due to day-to-day patient encounters, and
some of us died because of this disease. Using Lewin’s Theory
of Change:
a. Make a video presentation entitled “Change” focusing on
Nurses dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic.
b. Group yourselves into 10 members each.
c. You may use any materials as your props in creating your
video.
d. Video presentation should have at least 3mins and
maximum of 5mins duration.
e. Outputs must be submitted through Google classroom.
f. Deadline of submission will be on Date?

To pass this course, you must:

Formative Assessment:
a. You must answer all pre-assessment and self-assessment activities. Your scores here will not be a part of your midterm and final grades;
but they will be part of completion requirement of the course. Thus, you are expected to complete the pre-assessment and self-assessment
activities. These activities will help you determine if you need to study more or to advance to the next module
