Cardiovascular Disease
The heart is an important organ in the body. The heart causes the body to function.
However, stress and nutrition is a daily struggle a person goes through. According to
Stress Can Increase Your Risk for Heart Disease“Studies suggest that the high
levels of cortisol from long-term stress can increase blood cholesterol, triglycerides,
blood sugar, and blood pressure. These are common risk factors for heart disease. This
stress can also cause changes that promote the buildup of plaque deposits in the
arteries.”( Stress Can Increase Your Risk for Heart Disease n.d) Stress is connected
to heart disease because if stress for a period of time it could cause promoted to
buildup of plaque deposits in the arteries. According to Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention “Eating a diet high in saturated fats, trans fat, and cholesterol has been
linked to heart disease and related conditions” (Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention. 2019, December 9). Nutrition has been connected to heart disease to much
saturated fats, trans fat, and cholesterol is connected in harming the heart. Keisha
should be concerned about her health screening results. Keisha argument is after
graduation her life won’t be as hectic in which she can focus in nutritious food. However,
she will already have a routine and habits. Its easy to say something then to complete it.
Also, her body will have continue to develop high blood pressure and poor serum
cholesterol reading. As a result she could develop even more health problems.Men
have been the focus of health attacks prevention campaigns while breast cancers
awareness programs have been directed to women. I think it's more common for a
woman to develop breast cancer. Women's breasts may be more delicate than mens.
Also, I think its a cultural society development. As people when we think of breasts we
think of women should cover their breasts. While men are allowed to walk around
without a shirt. People have given social labels on heart attacks are a more man
problem and breast cancer is develop by women. I think a first step in being aware of
heart disease is to ask my family if it runs in the family. Another step is to speak with a
professional. Google is another great step. I can start with simple things such as adding
healthier foods to my diet. In my diet I could add foods which will strengthen my heart. I
enjoy fried food. I think cutting fried food can help strengthen the heart. I think a big step
is to exercise and drink water. I think daily exercise will strengthen the heart. A step in
daily exercise would be jump rope. It works every part of your body. Breathing and
controlling your heart can be helpful in strengthening your heart. After I have
strengthened my heart a bit I can challenge myself by swimming. Swimming is another
great exercise. Swimming focus in your breathing and your movement which is a step
in challenging your heart. We only have one heart and we need to take care of it.
