Welcome to the Health 9 Alternative Delivery Mode (ADM) Module on The Effects of
Environmental Issues to the Human Health!

This module was collaboratively designed, developed and reviewed by educators both
from public and private institutions to assist you, the teacher or facilitator in helping the
learners meet the standards set by the K to 12 Curriculum while overcoming their
personal, social, and economic constraints in schooling.

This learning resource hopes to engage the learners into guided and independent

1 Issues to the Human Health
The world is rapidly changing. With the advent of science and modern
technology, we are in an era where comfort of living has become essential and of
greatest need. Housing projects, urbanization, real estate boom, intensive
industrialization and modernization has been seen over the past century. Along with
this is the disturbance of the natural environment. This lesson will introduce you the
different effects of Environmental Problems and Issues to the human health.

Additional Activities
EXPERIMENT: MUST BE SOMETHING IN THE WATER
Objective:
To identify pollutant in the water supply
Materials needed:
1. Gauze or clean white cloth large enough to cover a faucet
2. String
3. Hand lens (optional)
4. Cardboard
5. Clear plastic
Procedure:
1. Choose a faucet in your house.
2. Cover the mouth of the faucet with gauze or a clean white cloth. Tie the cloth
with the string to keep it from falling.
3. Remove the gauze or cloth everyday and examine it through a hand lens or any
magnifying apparatus found in your house. Record your observation.
4. After one week, dry the cloth and tape it on a cardboard. Cover it with plastic to
preserve whatever has been caught in the cloth.
