2. Answer these comprehension questions. [just short phrases/key words; 1,5 marks]

a. What tips does the expert give to start a meeting with a family?

b. What kind of gaps between parents and teachers does the expert identify? Name them
all.

c. What factors does the expert say that are difficult or can be difficult in building
relationships with parents?

3. After you finish watching the video, tell your opinion about the following question: If you
were the class teacher of a group of Primary Education [in Spanish we would say “el tutor”],
what would you do to build positive relationships with the families? [45-50 words; 1,5 marks]

Infographic: British Primary education [7 marks]

Your school has organised a parent-teacher meeting for the first term. This year, as a novelty, your
school is running a pen-pal programme* with a British school. As part of the meeting, you need to
explain the major characteristics of the British education system for Key Stage 1 (for pupils aged 5
to 7). The school has decided to make use of an infographic to present the information to families.

* NOTE: pen-pal refers to a programme in which students from your school will write and send
letters to students from a British school of a similar age.

CONTENT

Produce an infographic explaining the following information related to Key Stage 1:

• What is Key stage 1: age group and levels it includes.


• Terms and holidays: how long is the academic year? When does it start? What holidays do
schools usually have?
• Subjects: what ‘core’ subjects are taught? What other subjects are taught?
• Types of schools (DO NOT include types of academies)
o School type AND 1 sentence explaining its main characteristic.
• SATs testing for Key Stage 1
o What subjects/content is tested
o Timing of each test included
o When it takes place
• Include also:
o Your full name
o Title of the infographics
o The sources consulted to make the infographic (name of website and link). Use
italics for titles and write the link inside these brackets <>. For example:
