 PREFACE

The rapidly changing technological, socio-economic and politico-legal environment and

increasing globalization of business and industry, effective management of human resources has
become a very challenging job. There is no denying the fact that human element is at the centre
stage in all economic activities. No organization can think of viability of operations and
effectiveness without the efficient utilization of human resources.

The cardinal principle of human resource management is to consider each employee as a

human being who has needs and aspirations which he/she likes to be fulfilled by his/her
association with the organisation. The management must, therefore, provide healthy and safe
working conditions for the human resources and create adequate opportunities for them to satisfy
their needs and aspirations. It is also essential to recognize the right of expression of the human
resources and their urge for empowerment.
 ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

A task undertaken without offering prayers to the almighty and taking blessing from the
elder is not a good beginning. Likewise, the work completed without acknowledging the
assistance to those who were always by my side to make my efforts fruitful in the task , will not
be considered as incomplete.

I, therefore, acknowledge my indebtedness to all those who generously helped by sharing

their valuable time and experience with me, without which this project would have never been
accomplished.

In the beginning, I convey my sincere thanks and regards to Mr. Punit Kumar,
Branch Manager (HDFC Bank, Meerut) under whose valuable guidance I completed
this project. It was her perceptive guidance; constant encouragement, constructive
criticism and affection, which were the guiding light during the tenure of this work.
Words cannot express my sincere thanks to Mr. Umesh Chaudhary , as his selfless help
in every way has left an indelible mark of gratitude on me. It was his help and guidance,
which kept my hopes alive, and I worked on right track.

In this effort of mine a special mention should be made of all the colleagues and
employees of HDFC Bank who helped me in one way or the other in completion of this task, by
rendering their valuable and precious time.
