2.Hypotheses
Ho: There is no significant relationship between the accidents in big cities and road designs?
Ha: There is a significant relationship between the accidents in big cities and road designs?
3.Choice of Test Statistics
➢ α: Pearson product moment of correlation, α= 0.05
4.Computation
r-value= 0.95 Very strong relationship
p-value= 0.03
5.Decision Rule, Level of significance, Findings
➢ Decision Rule: Reject Ho if p-value < (α) level of significance
➢ Finding: p-value (0.03) < α (0.05)
6.Decision
➢ Reject the null hypothesis
7.Interpretation
➢ There is a significant relationship between the accidents in big cities and road
designs.
8.Conclusion
9. Implication
➢ There is a complexity encountered to understand the relationship between road
geometric design elements and road accidents rate because of the interrelations
among the geometric design elements themselves and also other accident-related
factors, however it is obvious that some geometric design elements such as short
sight distance, wider roads and small curve radius can significantly increase the road
accidents rate and severity. Moreover, a combination of certain geometric design
elements can result in serious accidents occurrence
