MATHEMATICS I

I. OBJECTIVES: After the 50-minute discussion, 75% of the Grade I pupils are
expected to identify names and describes the four basic shapes (square, rectangle,
triangle, and circle) in 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional objects.

II. SUBJECT MATTER: MATHEMATICS I


Topic: Porma sa mga Butang
Resources: Mathematics I, Kagamitan ng mag-aaral pp. 202-209, M1GE-llle-1
Concept: There are four basic shapes namely: square, rectangle, triangle, and
circle each in which can be 2-dimensional or 3-dimensional objects.
Value Focus: Cooperation

Good morning class! Good morning ma'am!

Before we proceed to our daily discussion,


may I call on Student A to lead the prayer?

be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us
this day our daily bread, and forgive our
tresspasses as we forgive our tresspass
against us, and lead us not into temptation,

1. Drill
Show the basic shapes to the pupils and let them identify its name as learned in
their kindergarten years.

2. Motivation
The teacher shows real objects and the pupils will identify its shape.

Presentation
Present to the pupils that today’s lesson is “Mga Porma sa Butang.”

B. ACTIVITY (Board Work)


Match column A with column B. Column A contains the names and pictures of the
different shapes while column B has its description. The pupils will connect the
shapes to what best describe it.

COLUMN A COLUMN B

1. Square/Kwadrado a. Has no sides and no angle.


2. Rectangle/Rectanggulo b. Has three side and three angles.

3. Circle/Lingin c. Has four equal sides and four

angles.

4. Triangle/Triyanggulo d. Has two pair of sides equal

four angles.

C. ANALYSIS
Use the previous activity for the discussion.
Ask the following questions:

1. What are the four basic shapes?


2. How will you describe a square?
3. How will you describe a rectangle?
4. How will you describe a circle?
5. How will you describe a triangle?
6. Give me real objects which have the property of the four basic shapes.

D. ABSTRACTION
Let the pupils enumerate the four basic shapes and its description to assess mastery.

E. APPLICATION
Group the pupils into three. Each group will be given different activities and 5
minutes time span to finish it. They’ll choose their leader, secretary, and reporter. The
first group to finish will be given prize.

GROUP I
Directions: Draw the four basic shapes and write the number of sides it has.

GROUP II
Directions: Draw 2-dimensional objects you can see around which shows the four
basic shapes.

GROUP III
Directions: Draw 3-dimensional objects you can see around which shows the four
basic shapes.
V. EVALUATION

Directions: Encircle the shape that best suit and describes the objects on the first
column.
