Qiuz for III F. Give clear answer!

1. Did GTM succeed to achieve its target? What's your reason?

2. Why do experts decide not to teach a new language through memorizing language rules

3. What is developing simple writing like in DM?

ANSWER

1.Ya. It was found that the using of the Grammar-translation method as a teaching method
made the grammatical rules easier , the learning process was faster, and increased the students'
capability to answer correctly in both oral and written exams, and effected on their confidence
positively.

2. If the students only memorize the rules of the language, then the students will not know how
to speak and they will only know how to write and read. It is also important for students to be
taught how to speak and how students can hear a new language easily. But, why is it so hard to
learn a foreign language, anyway? Put simply, it's hard because it challenges both your mind
(your brain has to construct new cognitive frameworks) and time (it requires sustained,
consistent practice). Students must be taught with a balanced portion in which students must
have speaking skills, listening skills, writing skills, and reading skills so that in learning a new
language, students will quickly master it fluently.

3. The direct method of teaching, which is sometimes called the natural method, and is often
(but not exclusively) used in teaching foreign languages, refrains from using the learners' native
language and uses only the target language. It was established in England around 1900 and
contrasts with the grammar translation method and other traditional approaches, as well as with
C.J. Dodson's bilingual method. It was adopted by key international language schools such as
Berlitz and Inlingua in the 1970s and many of the language departments of the Foreign Service
Institute of the U.S. State Department in 2012.
In general, teaching focuses on the development of oral skills. Characteristic features of the
direct method are:

 teaching concepts and vocabulary through pantomiming, real-life objects and other visual
materials
 teaching grammar by using an inductive approach (i.e. having learners find out rules
through the presentation of adequate linguistic forms in the target language)
 centrality of spoken language (including a native-like pronunciation)
 focus on question-answer patterns
