Activity 2: Essay. Read the statement carefully and explain what it means based on what
you have understood.

Better to know a knot and not need it, than need a knot and not know it.

There are a lot of things that can be concluded from this statement that should not
only be based on our knowledge of knot tying but should also teach us a valuable life lesson
that we may implement in the future. Moreover, after reading numerous perspectives and
information about the statement on the internet, they all agree that it is better to have the
knowledge and not use it than to have none at all, especially at times when we badly need
it. In life, knowing something makes us stronger, more prepared and puts us ahead of
our co-survivor. The reason for this is because there are times and situations when we are
unable to rely on others and must confront certain difficulties and problems on our own.
What makes life even more challenging is that there are times when we have no idea when
these obstacles may strike. And it is our own knowledge and abilities that will enable us to
survive and thrive in the face of these life challenges. This knowledge will undoubtedly
keep us afloat in a wide universe where everyone is fighting for their own survival. In conclusion, as the
idiom goes better to have and not need than to need and
not have. This statement does not imply that you should know how to make a knot in an
emergency. It emphasizes that every knowledge and experience is useful at some point in
one life, therefore take advantage of any guidance or knowledge you may get when the
opportunity arises.
