Semi-detailed Lesson Plan

Charles Reyes Del Rosario

CN: 5201

I. Learning Objectives

At the end of the lesson the learners will be able to:

a. Define the terms ‘physical property and chemical property

b. Describe some physical and chemical properties of matter
c. Recognize the difference between physical and chemical and intensive and extensive properties.

II. Learning content

Topic: Physical and Chemical properties

Reference: https://courses.lumenlearning.com/introchem/chapter/physical-and-chemical-
properties-of-matter/
Materials: Laptop, PowerPoint Presentation, Visual aids,
Values Integration: Attentiveness & Cooperation
III. Learning Experience
A. Preparatory Activities
1. Prayer
2. Greetings
3. Motivation
4. Checking of Attendance
5. Review
(The teacher will ask the learners about the previous lesson…)
-What was our lesson yesterday?
6. Classroom Management
-The rules and regulation inside the classroom.

A. Developmental Activities
-Teacher will discuss the volume and density of a matter.

A. Activity

a. The teacher will presented a video of the physical property and chemical property of
matter.
b. The teacher will divide the class into 2 groups
c. Teacher will provide an activity about the video presented.

B. Analysis

The teacher will ask question based on the video.

-What is the meaning of physical property? how about the meaning of chemical property?
-What is the difference between physical property and chemical properties of matter?

C. Abstraction

-The teacher proceed to the next lesson which is the physical and chemical properties of matter.
-The teacher provide some example of Physical property and Chemical Property of matter.
-The teacher will Define and discuss what is physical property and chemical property.
All properties of matter are either Physical and Chemical properties are either intensive or
extensive. Extensive properties, such as mass and volume, depend on the amount of matter
being measured. Intensive properties such as density and color do not depend on the amount of
the substance present. Physical properties can be measured without changing a substance’s
Chemical identity.

D. Application

-The students will answer the activity.

Direction: Classify the properties listed below as physical or chemical by placing a check in the
appreciate box. Then, choose if it is an extensive or intensive property.

Physical Chemical Extensive Intensive

1. Color
2. Combustibility
3. Hardness
4. Luster
5. Flammability
6. Mass
7.Density
8. Melting Point
9.Odor
10.Length
IV. Evaluation/ Assessment

-The teacher will read and explain the assessment to the pupils.
Instruction: Write letter C if the statement defines Chemical Property and write letter P if the statement
defines Physical Property.
____1.Density of Al is 2.70 g/cm
____2.Baking soda reacts with vinegar
____3.Oxygen is a gas
____4.Acid can reacts with base in neutralization
____5.The tree is 8 meter high
____6.Metals are lustrous (shiny)
____7.The piece of metal is magnetic
____8.Argon is not very reactive
____9.Bases taste Bitter
____10.Diamonds (made from C) are very hard
