Methodology

Purpose of the study and Research Design

This study aimed to produced an organic liquid soap using cucumber extracts

There were two set-ups that were tested.

The set-ups used in the study were:

Cucumber Potassium Purified Essential Cooking

Set-ups Extracts Hydroxide Water Oil Oil

Set-up 1 50 ml. 50 g. 250 ml. 0 ml. 250 ml.

Set-up 2 50 ml. 66.25 g. 500 ml. 10 ml. 250 ml.

Materials and Equipments

The following materials and equipments are: crackpot, wooden spatula, pot holder, bowl,graduated
cylinder, beaker, blender, spoon, knife, stove, empty bottle, cucumber extracts, potassium hydroxide,
purified water, essential oil, and cooking oil.

Procedure

Preparation for the Cucumber Extracts

Get a 2 pieces of cucumber. Wash it in water in order to removed the dust or dirt. Get a knife, then
slice it into 3 cm. thick and set a side. After that, get the blender. Put the sliced cucumber inside and
pour 50 ml. of purified water. Blend it until it will becomes liquid. After blending, get the muslin cloth.
Pour the blended cucumber and squeeze it as the extract flows. Lastly, put it inside the bowl and set a
side.

Preparation for the Potassium Hydroxide

Get a clean bowl. Put 150 ml. of purified water and pour 66.25 g. of potassium hydroxide slowly. Stir it
until it will dissolve. And the time when it dissolved, set a side.

Preparation for the Liquid Soap

Set the fire. Get the crackpot and put it above the stove. Inside the crackpot, put 250 ml. of cooking oil.
Stir it until it will bubbles. Then, put the dissolved potassium hydroxide slowly. Stir it until they mixed
together. When it turns into sticky one, put 50 ml. of cucumber extracts. After that, stir it until 5 to 6
hours and check it every 30 minutes. When it turns into a paste, smash it in order to avoid the stickiness.
Stir it again and put 10 ml. of essential oil. Then, set a side. After that, get a clean bowl with 500 ml. of
purified water. Put the paste inside and dilute. After diluting, when it is milky add any amount of water.
Lastly, if it is finished put it inside the empty bottle.
