Impact of Technology on Politics
Adults in these countries also make little distinction between the impact of the internet and mobile phones when
it comes to politics. Nearly identical shares say the internet and mobile phones have had a good, bad or
negligible impact on politics.

People who themselves use the internet are somewhat more upbeat than non-users about its effect on
politics. And in most of these countries there are only modest to nonexistent differences in attitudes between
older and younger adults. But those who describe social media as a very important source of political news for
them, personally, are more likely to say the internet has had a good impact on politics relative to those who say
social media are less important, or to those who do not use social media at all.

When asked about the impact of mobile phones, the internet and social media on various political behaviors and
attitudes, people in these nations tend to express seemingly dual views of how technology has brought “more”
to society: that it has made people more informed, yet more manipulatable; more divided, yet sometimes more
accepting of others.

What I Can Do (Let’s Do It)

“The Future Gender Equality”

When it comes to family life, the sense is that men and women have about the same influence in making
important decisions in their households. A 34-country median of 55% say both have roughly equal influence
when it comes to important decisions about household finances, 56% say this about how to raise children and
62% say this of decisions about a family’s religious practices. To the extent that people see a difference,
however, men are generally seen as having more of an influence than women when it comes to decisions about
household finances, while women are generally seen as having more influence when it comes to decisions about
raising children.

In nearly every country surveyed, majorities say that a marriage where both the husband and wife have jobs and
take care of the home is more satisfying than one where the husband provides for the family and the wife takes
care of the house and children. Even so, sizable shares in many countries say a more traditional marriage would
be preferable.
Equality or non-discrimination is that state where every individual gets equal opportunities and rights. Every
individual of the society yearns for equal status, opportunity, and rights. However, it is a general observation
that there exists lots of discrimination between humans. Discrimination exists because of cultural differences,
geographical differences, and gender. Inequality based on gender is a concern that is prevalent in the entire
world. Even in the 21st century, across globe men and women do not enjoy equal privileges. Gender equality
means providing equal opportunities to both men and women in political, economic, education and health
aspects.

What I Have Learned

I have learned that Academic Writing is nonfiction produced as part of academic work, including reports
on empirical fieldwork or research in facilities for the natural sciences or social sciences, monographs in which
scholars analyze culture, propose new theories, or develop interpretations from archives, as well as
undergraduate versions of all of these. Though the tone, style, content, and organization of academic writing
vary across genres and across publication methods, nearly all academic writing shares a relatively formal
prose register, frequent reference to other academic work, and the use of fairly stable rhetorical moves to define
the scope of the project, situate it in the relevant research, and to advance a new contribution.

What’s New: (Spot the Difference)

Pair 1:
S1: It was raining cats and dogs.

S2: It was raining very heavily.

Pair 2:

S1: We believe the practice is unsustainable.

S2: It is believed that the price is unsustainable.

What have I seen the difference between these two sentences?

The difference of the two sentences in Pair 1 and Pair 2 is that they are the same in meaning that
it is raining heavily. However, the first sentence is an idiom that pertains to the heavy rains, and
the second one is the normal sentence that we use every day. And lastly on Pair 2, Both
Sentence 1 and 2 are different on the perspective. On Sentence 1, stated that their practice is
unsustainable and on the second sentence states that the price is unsustainable. Thus, this
sentences use the same word. But, it is stated differently.
