ACTIVITY 1
1. What are the Characteristics of the following:
a. Goods
b. Services
2. What are the types of Organizational Resources?

Answers:
1. Goods are material items that the customers are ready to purchase for a price,
while Services are the amenities, benefits or facilities provided by the other
persons.
a. Goods are tangible, it is solid and/or material. You can touch it, feel it,
they have shape and can be seen. Examples of tangible products are food
items, cars, gadgets, and etc.
All goods have some degree of durability beyond the time of purchase or
what we call imperishable.
Goods can be separate and can be stored for later use. That is why
Separability is one of the Goods’ characteristics.
The quality of goods can be controlled through standardization and
grading in the production process.
One of the characteristics of Goods is the Transfer of Ownership. We
can or may give a certain product to someone as a gift, or we may sell a
product to someone else.
b. Services are intangible. Hair styling, pest control, and equipment repair,
for example, do not have a physical presence.
Variability does also belong to the important characteristics of services. It
refers to the fact that the quality of services can vary greatly, depending on
who provides them and when, where and how.
One of the characteristics of Services is Inseparability. Unlike Goods,
Services is inseparability because services are produced and consumed at
the same time.
Services are Perishable, Perishability means that services cannot be
stored for later sale or use. In other words, services cannot be inventoried.

2. There are Four (4) basic types of Organizational Resources, these are Financial
Resources, Human Resources, Physical Resources, and Capital Resources.
 Human Resources - are the employees who work for the company
 Financial Resources – refers to the money that upper management uses
to buy goods and services for the corporation.
 Physical Resources or Raw Materials – are the materials used to create
products.
 Capital Resources – refers to the machinery used in the process of
manufacturing.
