Terms Definitions
1 Eco Tourism Responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the
environment, socially and economically sustains the well-being
of the local people, and creates knowledge and understanding
through interpretation and education of all involved.
2 Special Event Tourism Means an event, such as a major convention, trade show,
sporting activity, or festival, with potential to attract visitors
from outside a 50- mile radius and to produce significantly
increased Economic Impact economic impact for the State of
Illinois through overnight stays.
3 Military Tourism
Is for those with an interest in current or historical military
sites and facilities, including museums, battlefields, cemeteries
and technology.
Almost any capital city will have some sort of monument for
the fallen, and many museums include weapons or paintings
of war. This article tries to cover the specifically military sites
beyond that.

4 Wildfire Tourism Tourism that provides close contact with wildlife and nature in
general.
5 Sustainable Tourism Tourism that takes full account of its current and future
economic, social, and environmental impacts, addressing the
needs of visitors, the industry, the environment, and host
communities.
6 Sport Tourism Sports tourism is the act of travelling from one locality to
another, with the intention of being in some way involved with
a sporting activity or event.

8 Youth Tourism Youth tourism in a nutshell is young travelers having


preference for budget accommodation, emphasis on meeting
other traveler’s, independently organized, flexible travel
schedule and longer rather than brief holidays
9 Wedding Tourism In its simplest form, wedding tourism is your wedding or
honeymoon if you take an international trip to get married
or to celebrate the wedding.
10. Adventure Tourism is a tourist activity that includes physical activity, a cultural
exchange, or activities in nature.
11 Health/Medical Tourism Health tourism is a wider term for travel that focuses
on medical treatments and the use of healthcare services. It
covers a wide field of health-oriented tourism ranging from
preventive and health-conductive treatment to rehabilitation

and curative forms of travel. Wellness tourism is a related


field.
12 Eno Tourism Also known as oenotourism , wine tourism , or vinitourism . It
is the tourism of (or including) tasting, consumption, or
purchase of wine, many times near or in the source. Instead of
other types of tourism that are frequently
passive, enotourism can involve visits to wineries, taste wines,
vineyard walks, or participating in the harvest.
13 Ancestry Tourism Ancestry Holidays is the act of visiting destinations that your
ancestors previously visited getting to know and see what they
also experienced (although places they visit could be a bit
different compared to when your ancestors was here)
14 Gambling Tourism Gambling tourism is a combination of the travel and gaming
sectors, covering those players who visit places specifically to
gamble as well as the industries which support those players.
Casino hotel resorts play a big role in gambling tourism,
attracting visitors for a well-rounded and entertaining vacation
that includes gambling, entertainment and more. Gambling
tourism also covers players who visit another location to
gamble because they are restricted from playing in their home
nation or state.
15 Cultural Heritage Tourism
Culture heritage tourism where people travel to experience
authentic activities, stories of the people living centuries ago,
past, artefacts, food, clothing, and music.
16 Agri Tourism tourism in which tourists stay with local people in rural areas
abroad.

17 Cruise Tourism Cruise industry has gained significant changes recently and now
it is the most important sector of tourism. It is a highly
profitable industry on international level and is considered as
the most popular form of leisure activities.
18 Wellness Tourism Wellness tourism brings benefits to businesses and
stakeholders beyond the wellness sectors. The wellness
tourism economy is much larger than a narrowly defined set of
typical wellness businesses, such as spas, wellness retreats,
thermal/mineral springs, and boot camps.
19 Community Based Tourism A community implies individuals with collective responsibility,
and the ability to make decisions by representative bodies.
Community based tourism is tourism in which residents.
20 Gastronomy Tourism Gastronomy Tourism as a type of tourism activity which is
characterized by the visitor’s experience linked with food and
related products and activities while travelling.
21 Environmental Tourism Tourism that takes place in natural settings with an emphasis
on understanding and conserving natural environments.
22 Dark Tourism tourism that involves travelling to places associated with
death and suffering.
