Instruction: Read the journal article entitled “Inclusive Education in the Philippines: Through the Eyes of
Teachers, Administrators, and Parents of Children with Special Needs” by Micahel Arthus G.
Muega. After reading, answer the following questions in the table.

1. What is the article about and what are its major argument?

The article is all about the study on erudition and inclusion of school teachers and administrators and
parents of children with special needs regarding the effectivity of inclusive education. Some of the
major arguments in the research include a significant difference in terms of the responses of the
participants, their involvement, and how inclusive education is viewed and practiced.

2. Do you agree with the points of the journal article? Why or why not?

Yes. I agree at some points. First, participants in this study believe that they are practicing or involved
in IE, but does so only within a limited and very general knowledge of inclusion. This establishes a
point of concern whereas participants do rely much on their expertise in order to sustain a
knowledgeable environment for the CSN. However, this is done with limits. Also, IE promotes diversity
and its main purpose is to normalize the life of the CSN. However, while IE is being practiced at the
participants' schools or schools where CSN is participating, it reiterates that much remains to be done
at to provide a case of fair inclusion. This point exhibits a fact of normalization for the lives of CSN,
however, with exclusion. Although being involved is the general term, the study provides exclusion at
some points in order for the CSN to be involved. Lastly, participants in this study may have felt that it
may not be possible to express it, but the education system in the Philippines is generally less
equipped than in highly industrialized countries, although there are good reasons to adopt IE. What is
holding us back in terms in innovation are the fact wherein we are incapacitated yet for undergoing
such. This demonstrates a level of concern for future beholders. We can only risk things that we can
afford to lose so risking much for the future while not yet being fully equipped will definitely do much
damage.

3. How will the recommendations be applied in the actual experience in your school?

The recommendations can be applied in the actual experience in my school in relevance to being fully
knowledgeable enough to open up an IE for CSNs. Being in the middle of this field is not a risk or run
but should be something to look forward to in a long term. This job is not done solely but
collaboration and communication should be a main requisite to further the success of this. Applying
one’s best to also yield the best results should also be done via cooperative manners to pursue
teamwork for whatever plans our school has for this concern.
