Philosophy of Nursing Statetment
December 6, 2021
For as long as I can remember I have always had the passion to work in the healthcare
field and serve others. I had many family members who worked as nurses, and it struck me how
compassionate they were about serving others and putting other individuals needs before
themselves. When I was a senior in high school, I had the opportunity to take classes to become a
certified clinical medical assistant. Upon completing these classes, it really solidified the fact that
I wanted to become a registered nurse. The nurses and other medical professionals that I worked
with taught me so much about what it means to be empathetic and caring. My goal after
graduating high school was to attend the University of Arizona College of Nursing and obtain a
Bachelor of Science in Nursing. There were a few setbacks along the way, but this did not stop
me from working towards this goal. I am proud to say that I have almost made it through this
very intense nursing program, and I do not regret a single thing. I have learned so much about
myself through this journey and have gained so much knowledge from other registered nurses.
One of the most important qualities a nurse must have is being an advocate for their
patients in all situations. The nurse is the voice for the patient and helps the patients to navigate
the healthcare system. To advocate for patients, the nurse must develop a trusting relationship.
This means taking the time to get to know the patient and all their wants and needs. The nurse
should also develop a relationship with the patient’s family as they play an important role in the
patient’s life.
compassionate care to all patients, I will strive to provide individualized quality care to all
individuals, and I will help push healthcare to be the best for all patient’s no matter their
background.”
