What This Module is About

Philippine Education never stops rendering new learning modality for the new normal.
The attacked of Pandemic crises may have destroyed lives and economy but it won’t destroy the
bridge between teacher and learners. As we overcome this darkness that loomed the earth, may
we embrace these together as family—the smallest unit of the society, right? But when the
foundation of learning begets from there, we will all together heal as one. In Technology and
Livelihood Education particularly Home Economics modules, learners will have the opportunity to
read, learn and develop skills for you to be equipped and become competent in facing the new
normal.

Hello, dear learners. It is nice to meet you again! Did you enjoy doing your class activities
on hair dressing? I hope you did. Here are the following Lessons that we have taken in the
Module 1:

Lesson 1: Treatment of hair scalp.

Lesson 2: Prepare client.

Lesson 3: Apply shampoo and/or conditioner on the client.

Lesson 4: Blow-dry hair.

Lesson 5: Perform post-service activities.

This time around, you are going to learn on the related topics to Home Economics such
as the –hair dressing-. You will find it most important to understand why we frequently
experience diseases and disorders of scalp and hair. The aim of this module is to allow a better
understanding of the hair shaft structure and behavior, as well as information about the hair
cosmetics. Knowing their mode of action, safeties and ingredients will enable you (the learner) to
better assess different problems secondary to cosmetic treatments.

What I Need to Know

At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:

6. Prepare client (TLE_HEHD9- 12TS-Ie-6)

What’s 6.1New
Determine client’s health and restrictions through consultation.
6.2 Analyze client’s scalp and hair condition following salon safety
policies and procedures.
6.3 Prepare and use protective clothing according to OHS.

Scalp manipulation or “petrissage” is a massage technique that aids in the reduction

of stress and stimulates blood flow to the skin below the hair according to Izzy Moon. The
scalp is rolled, rubbed and kneaded in circular motions by the hands of the masseur. These
motions can be applied lightly or heavily with the recipient sitting or lying down, according to
preference and comfort. Regardless of the amount of pressure applied, continuous, even
motion will yield the best results and the most pleasing massage. Movements can be applied
in any order, according to you and the recipient’s preference.

What Is It

6.1 Determine client’s health and restrictions through consultation.

Here are the following steps on how to prepare a client for a Scalp Manipulation:
1
Step 1: Cup the recipient’s chin in your left hand. Place your right hand at the base of the
skull and rub the scalp gently in a circular motion. Reverse the positions of your hands and
repeat.
Step 2: Place your fingertips on each side of the head. Press and slide upward, spreading
your fingers until they meet at the top of the head. Do this four times.
Step 3: Place your fingertips on each side of the head, as in Step 2. Slide upward, one inch
at a time, stopping and rotating the scalp in circular motions with your fingertips between
sliding. Repeat four times.
Step 4: Place the palms of your hands firmly above the ears. Move the scalp upward in
circular motions with the palms of your hands.
Step 5: Place the fingers of both hands along the forehead hairline. Massage around the
hairline in circular motions while moving the scalp toward the top of the head. Repeat,
working towards the top of the head in one-inch increments. Do this for the entire front scalp.
Step 6: Place your fingers on the sides of the head below the ears with your thumbs at the
back of the head. Make circular motions with your thumbs on the back of the head, moving
the scalp upward towards the crown. Repeat four times.
Place your fingers in the same position as in Step 6. Work your thumbs in circular motions,
moving the scalp from behind the ears toward the center of the back of the head. Do this
four times.

Types of Scalp and Hair Treatments are Hot Oil Treatment/hair Spa, Dandruff
Treatment, Oily Scalp Treatment and Treatment for Alopecia. Google revealed from a
research that a hot oil treatment soaks into split ends and smooth them down until you can
schedule an appointment for a trim. With weekly use, hot oil treatments can extend the
time between trips to the stylist for one or two weeks. The theory: Heat helps the oil
penetrate the hair shaft better, giving dry hair a quick infusion of moisture.

Step 4: After heating, use shampoo to get rid of the oil and massage
the hair.

Step 5. You can let it dry naturally or you can blow dry it (depending
on your client’s preference.

Dandruff Treatment
A doctor can often diagnose dandruff simply by
looking at your hair and scalp. The itching and flaking of
dandruff can almost always be controlled. For mild dandruff,
first try daily cleansing with a gentle shampoo to reduce oil
and skin cell build-up. If that doesn't help, try a medicated
dandruff shampoo. You may need to try more than one
shampoo to find the hair care routine that works for you.
And you'll likely need repeated or long-term treatment. Figure 8: When you have dandruff,
your scalp may  look scaly or red and
feel itchy or raw.
3
If you develop itching, stinging, redness or burning from any product, stop using it. If
you develop an allergic reaction — such as a rash, hives or difficulty breathing — seek
immediate medical attention.

Dandruff shampoos are classified according to the medication they contain:

Pyrithione zinc shampoos (DermaZinc, Head & Shoulders, Jason Dandruff Relief 2 in
1). These contain the antibacterial and antifungal agent zinc pyrithione.
Tar-based shampoos (Neutrogena T/Gel). Coal tar slows how quickly skin cells on your
scalp die and flake off. If you have light-colored hair, this type of shampoo may cause
discoloration. It can also make the scalp more sensitive to sunlight.
Shampoos containing salicylic acid (Neutrogena T/Sal, Baker's P & S, others). These
products help eliminate scale.
Selenium sulfide shampoos (Head & Shoulders Intensive, Selsun Blue, others). These
contain an antifungal agent. Use these products as directed and rinse well after shampooing,
as they can discolor the hair and scalp.
Ketoconazole shampoos (Nizoral A-D). This shampoo is intended to kill dandruff-causing
fungi that live on your scalp. It's available over-the-counter or by prescription.
If one type of shampoo works for a time and then seems to lose its effectiveness, try
alternating between two types of dandruff shampoos.
Read and follow the directions on each bottle of shampoo you try. Some products need to be
left on for a few minutes, while others should be rinsed off quickly. At first, use a medicated
shampoo one to three times a week to treat dandruff. Then taper to once a week or less
frequently for maintenance and prevention.
If you've used medicated shampoo regularly for several weeks and still have dandruff, talk to
your doctor or dermatologist. You may need a prescription-strength shampoo or a steroid
lotion.

Oily Scalp Treatment

Here are some of the possible causes of dry hair with

an oily scalp: skin conditions, genetics, over washing
your hair, using shampoos or hair products with a lot
of artificial chemicals. Dandruff is likely the reason for
an oily and itchy scalp. Some causes of just an itchy
scalp include: flare-ups of skin conditions like eczema

Figure 9: Due to excess sebum,

the scalp can  look oily while  hair
4
looks  slick, heavy and stringy.
and psoriasis allergic reactions to chemicals in hair products or other external triggers,
including light sensitivity.

Hair loss that happens alongside a noticeably oily scalp can result from: genetics,
aging, damage to hair follicles.
There’s plenty you can do at home or buy at your local drugstore to help treat an oily
scalp. Keep in mind evidence for these home remedies is largely anecdotal. Your results
may vary. These suggestions don’t replace conventional treatment therapies.
 Fish oil
Limited data suggests that fish oil could be helpful to manage flare-ups of dandruff that
can contribute to oily scalp skin. It’s usually sold as an oral dietary supplement. Many people
use fish oil for its potential benefits for the immune system and heart.
 Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera is another natural remedy for dandruff that’s backed by older research Trusted
Source. Its use may be derived from its potential to control inflammation that leads to flare-
ups.
 Probiotics
Probiotics are thought to be a good way to decrease inflammation throughout the body,
which can help control dandruff flare-ups. There’s not a ton of evidence that probiotics are
specifically effective for an oily scalp, but there’s some Trusted Source. It’s worth talking to
your doctor about whether they may benefit you.
 Tea tree oil
Tea tree oil is an antiseptic that can help control bacterial and fungal buildups. These
buildups can lead to acne or flare-ups of some scalp skin conditions. Dilute tea tree oil with a
carrier oil, such as coconut or olive oil, and put a few drops on the affected area.
 Apple cider vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is a well-loved anecdotal therapy, but it lacks sufficient evidence to
support routinely in skin disorders. Some say it’s an effective anti-inflammatory and can help
reduce the pH balance of your hair. Both of these capabilities may help reduce oil production
and stop flare-ups of skin conditions. However, apple cider vinegar may further irritate your
skin if you have eczema. If you decide to try apple cider vinegar, put a few drops of it on your
scalp after washing your hair. Leave it for a few minutes, then rinse well.

We have discussed in the previous of module the different types of alopecia right? As
conventional treatments for alopecia are extremely limited, studies that support natural
treatments for alopecia are even thinner on the ground. There are some people that
recommend rubbing onion or garlic juice, cooled green tea, almond oil, rosemary oil, honey,
or coconut milk into the scalp. While none of these are likely to cause harm, their
effectiveness is also not supported by research. Some people turn to alternative treatment
methods such as acupuncture and aromatherapy, although there is little, if any, evidence to
support these treatments.

6.2 Analyze client’s scalp and hair condition following salon safety policies
and procedures.

What’s In

Before we will continue with the next lesson for this module, let us first review the
previous lesson we had. In preparing your client, you should know the basic scalp
manipulation to make your client feel comfortable. You should also know how to prepare the
appropriate equipment and supplies to be used. Also, it is necessary to examine the hair and
scalp condition of your client. Remember the types of Scalp and Hair Treatments are Hot
Oil Treatment/hair Spa, Dandruff Treatment, Oily Scalp Treatment and Treatment for
Alopecia.

What’s New

In this lesson we need to discuss and analyze scalp and hair structure.

Read Me Facts!
Hair & Scalp Facts

1. There are more 10,000 strands of hair on your head.

2. Hair is made up of protein and water. The water/moisture
content is responsible for suppleness of your hair.
3. Hair is dead and damage cannot be permanently
repaired. You can maintain and preserve your hair but once it
is damaged, it cannot be repaired.
4. Each hair follicle produces about 20 hairs in your lifetime.
5. The life cycle of a single strand of hair is about 2-3 years. Figure 10: Picture
showing how hair follicle
6. Hair grows and average of one-half inch per month.
matures.
7. Your scalp sheds about 50-100 strands of hair a day.
8. The scalp is where every strand of hair is grows from and keeping it healthy is
important for healthy hair.
9. There are three stages of hair growth, anagen (active growth phase), catagen
(transition phase) and telogen (resting phase).

12
What Is It

What is scalp? The scalp resembles the rest of the skin on your body
and has a blood vessels that carry nutrients to the hair follicle. The main difference is
the scalp has larger oil glands that produce sebum, the body’s natural moisturizing
oil. Healthy scalp equals healthy hair as long as you take care of them. The layers of
the scalp are…
Epidermis – the uppermost layer of the scalp which is made up of layers that include
dead skin cells, water, proteins and lipids.
Dermis – supports the skin (epidermis) through its protein structure. Hair grows from
hair follicles located in the dermis layer of the skin.
Subcutaneous – houses the scalps’ blood vessels and fatty tissue which deliver
nutrients

Figure 11: The difference between thick skin and thin skin.

Let’s Talk Hair Anatomy

Hair is made up of two parts, the follicle and the
shaft. The following image shows the different
parts of the hair
Hair follicle – is just below the skins’ surface and
the hair shaft grows out of it (see image above).
The hair follicle contains sebaceous glands
which produces sebum, a natural conditioner
which moisturizes the hair. The hair follicle is
nourished from the blood stream via the dermal
papilla. Your hair is growing and connected to
blood vessels and nerves while in the follicle.
Once it passes the epidermis, it hardens and is
essentially dead. Figure 12: Basic structure of hair,
the cuticle, cortex and medulla.

13
Cuticle – is the top layer of the hair shaft and looks
like shingles on a roof. The cuticle protects the cortex and
the medulla. If the cuticle is damaged the rest of your hair
will follow suit.  Minimizing damage to the cuticle layer of
the hair is the best way to maintain your hair.

hair shaft shows the three
layers.

Cortex – is known as the heart the hair and determines the strength due to its protein
strands. It also determines the moisture content and color of the hair.  It is made up
of spindle shaped cells and pigment granules (melanin). This is the layer affected by
processes such as hair color and chemical relaxers.

Figure 15: I love this image because you see the

your hair. Amazing right?

Medulla – is the innermost layer of the hair shaft and made up of mainly protein but
much isn’t know about it. However, products and styling seem to have no effect on
the medulla. It is not always present is the hair shaft and usually absent in those with
naturally blond or fine hair.

What’s In

We learned that the scalp has larger oil glands that produce sebum, the body’s
natural moisturizing oil. Healthy scalp equals healthy hair as long as you take care of them.
The layers of the scalp are: Epidermis – the uppermost layer of the scalp which is made up
of layers that include dead skin cells, water, proteins and lipids. Dermis – supports the skin
(epidermis) through its protein structure. Hair grows from hair follicles located in the dermis
layer of the skin. Subcutaneous – houses the scalps’ blood vessels and fatty tissue which
deliver nutrients. Hair is made up of two parts, the follicle and the shaft. Hair follicle – is just
below the skins’ surface and the hair shaft grows out of it. Listening from experts is very
important for the client, accepting recommendations from the consultation from them is
necessary. Though at times in may vary, but they are haircare professionals who knows
better.

What Is It

The beauty industry is growing yearly and

with its expansion, more and more people are
appreciating the profession. The hairdresser has

23
become an important person when it comes to general hair grooming. Most of them have
invested heavily on equipment that are best suited to meet the various customer needs.

1. Shampoos for Oily or Dry Hair complete set of salon equipment.

Oily hair is due to an overactive oil-making gland, says Vaughn Acord, owner of mizu salon,
with locations in New York and Boston. "You want a shampoo that removes the oils and
hydrates both the hair and scalp," he says.
Dry hair, on the other hand, usually results from damage to the hair itself. "The central part
of the hair shaft is where we find all the proteins that give hair its strength,” says
dermatologist Michelle Hanjani Galant, MD, of Columbia University Medical Center.
"Surrounding the hair shaft is something called the cuticle, made up of flattened cells
like shingles on a roof. If their edges aren't lined up perfectly, then hair is dull, brittle, and has
no shine," says Hanjani Galant, who specializes in hair and hair disorders.
2. Straightening and Smoothing Shampoos
Shampoos that claim that they'll straighten or smooth your hair generally have a coating
ingredient in them.
"It's usually silicones [or] oils," Acord says. "They will aid in coating the hair, and allowing hot
tools to straighten and/or smooth it out."
3. Volumizing Shampoos
Most of them are formulated to open the hair's cuticle, making it thicker, Acord says. "But
that, too, can damage the hair, and it will also remove color as well as reversing perms and
relaxers."
No shampoo is going to make hair lighter and fluffier, O'Brien says. "Your best bet for more
volume is a shampoo that has a nice, lightweight conditioning agent that rinses off really
well."
4. Clarifying Shampoos
"Clarifying" sounds clean and clear -- but they can be rough on your hair, O'Brien says.
"Very few people will really need a clarifying shampoo," he says. They're generally used
because someone has some kind of condition or is going to get a chemical treatment, and
they really need to cleanse the hair. They rough up the hair's cuticle, for example, so the
perm or color might take better. But some of them can be extremely harsh."
You should definitely avoid clarifying shampoos after getting your hair colored. "Even the
mildest clarifying shampoos will unwind that color really fast," O'Brien says.

5. Shampoos for Color-Treated Hair

These shampoos are made to help make your color last. Acord recommends checking on
the shampoo's "ph." level, which is a measure of how acidic or alkaline the product is. He
suggests looking for a ph between 4.5-5.5 to help prevent fading. If the ph level isn't shown
on the shampoo bottle, try searching the product's name and "ph level" online.
Good shampoos for color-treated hair may also use an ingredient like an oil, sea kelp, or
algae to help color stay in your hair, O'Brien adds.

24
6. Dry Shampoos
Want to refresh your hair without a full shower and blow-dry? Try a dry shampoo.
"They can really be a lifesaver and break that every day shampoo habit," O'Brien says.
"Pump a burst [of dry shampoo] down your hairline, in the part, and at the crown, and take
your blow dryer and brush and fluff it up, and you're probably out the door in five minutes."
7. The Build-up Myth
Whatever shampoo you use, you don't need to switch periodically in order to prevent "build-
up." That's a myth, Acord and O'Brien say.
"The products are so good now that you aren't going to get a product build-up unless you're
a crazy hairspray person, which is not how hair has been styled for the last 15-20 years,"
O'Brien says.
The best way to pick the right shampoo for you: Ask a stylist. "A runner shouldn't pick the
right shoes based on what color they are," O'Brien says. "They should go to a running
specialty store and get fitted for the best shoe. It's the same with shampoo. Don't pick your
shampoo based on what your friend likes or because you like the fragrance. Get a
recommendation from a stylist that knows your hair."
The conditioner has to be completely rinsed out. Application of hair conditioners
after shampoo will lower inter fiber friction and reduce combing forces. If the hair is curly,
leave-on products may be used during wet combing. The use of leave-on products on
straight virgin hair may cause an oily look and dull the hair. Gentle hair is dealing actions
(gentle shampooing, gentle towel drying, gentle brushing or combing) is recommended.
Many products may be used to lubricate and seal cuticle cells, such as silicones
(dimethicone and aminoterminal silicones) and vegetable oils.
Conditioners are used to decrease friction, detangle the hair, minimize frizz and
improve combability. Conditioners act by neutralizing the electrical negative charge of the
hair fiber by adding positive charges and by lubricating the cuticle that reduces fiber
hydrophilicity. They contain anti-static and lubricating substances that are divided into 5 main
groups: Polymers, oils, waxes, hydrolyzed aminoacids and cationic molecules. The most
active and used conditioner agent is a silicone.
Functions of the conditioners are:

o Improve combability
o Mimetize the hair natural lipid outer layer: 18-MEA
o Restore hydrophobicity
o Seal the cuticle
o Avoid or minimize frizz, friction: Neutralize the negative charged net
o Enhance shine, smoothness and manageability.

Three types of conditioners

1. Rinse-Out Conditioner

This kind of conditioner is probably the one you’re most familiar with, and it is extremely
simple to use. Just work it into your hair, wait a minute or two, and rinse it away completely.
Rinse-out conditioners are designed to treat the outside surface of the hair cuticle,
smoothing and protecting from damage from heat appliances. You can use them every day

25
after you shampoo. Most types of hair, from dry to normal to oily, benefit from using this kind
of product.

2. Leave-In Conditioner

This type of conditioner is very thin, light-weight, and not viscous. It will moisturize and
protect your hair quickly and easily. It contains surfactants, which allow the product to spread
out and treat each hair with a thin coat of conditioner. Like any other styling product, you
spray it on to your hair after your shower. You will especially love it if you are prone to
tangles, as it is an effective de-tangler. If you have thinner, curly or oily hair, leave-in
conditioners will probably work well for you. Give them a try!

3. Deep Conditioner

This category of product, not surprisingly, is designed to condition your hair on a deep level.
Deep conditioners are best for damaged and dry hair. These products contain
oils, emulsifiers and waxes to repair damage and treat dryness. If your hair is normal to oily,
deep conditioners may not be the best products for you, as they can weigh down your hair
and make it look even oilier.

Usually, you use a deep conditioning product by applying it to your hair and leaving it in for
about half an hour. Next, rinse it away thoroughly. This repairs damage to your hair shafts,
but the effect doesn’t last forever. It’s best to use deep conditioners once every week or
month, depending on your hair type. It’s also good to deep condition two or three days prior
to coloring your hair.

Deep conditioning your hair is time-consuming, but it’s the most effective way to improve
your hair if it is dry or damaged. It really can make a difference.

What’s New

Care of the hair and care of the scalp skin may appear separate, but are actually intertwined
because hair grows from beneath the skin. The living parts of hair (hair follicle, hair root, root
sheath and sebaceous gland) are beneath the skin, while the actual hair shaft which
emerges (the cuticle which covers the cortex and medulla) has no living processes. Damage
or changes made to the visible hair shaft cannot be repaired by a biological process, though
much can be done to manage hair and ensure that the cuticle remains intact.
Scalp skin, just like any other skin on the body, must be kept healthy to ensure a healthy
body and healthy hair production. If the scalp is cleaned regularly by those who have rough
hair or have a hair-fall problem, it can result in loss of hair. However, not all scalp disorders
are a result of bacterial infections. Some arise inexplicably, and often only the symptoms can
be treated for management of the condition (example: dandruff). There are also bacteria that
can affect the hair itself. Head lice is probably the most common hair and scalp ailment
worldwide. Head lice can be removed with great attention to detail, and studies show it is not
necessarily associated with poor hygiene. More recent studies reveal that head lice actually
thrive in clean hair. In this way, hair washing as a term may be a bit misleading, as what is
necessary in healthy hair production and maintenance is often simply cleaning the surface of
the scalp skin, the way the skin all over the body requires cleaning for good hygiene.

What Is It

Hairstyling equipment which helps in creating hairstyles include:

 Hair dryer- is an electromechanical device that blows ambient or

hot air over damp hair to speed the evaporation of water to dry the
hair. Blow dryers enable better control over the shape and style of
hair, by accelerating and controlling the formation of
temporary hydrogen bonds within each strand.

 Hair clip- they are often made from metal or plastic and

sometimes feature decorative fabric. In one type of barrette, a
clasp is used to secure the barrette in place; the clasp opens
when the two metal pieces at either side are pressed together.
Use for sectioning the hair.

 Comb-a tool consisting of a shaft that holds a row of teeth for

pulling through the hair to clean, untangle, or style it.

33
 Hair iron- tool used to change the structure of the hair using heat.
There are three general kinds: curling irons, used to make the
hair curly, straightening irons, commonly
called straighteners or flat irons, used to straighten the hair,
and crimping irons, used to create crimps of the desired size in
the hair.

 Hair roller- is a small tube that is rolled into a person's hair in

order to curl it, or to straighten curly hair, making a new hairstyle.

 Hairbrush- is a handle brush with rigid or soft spokes used in hair

care for smoothing, styling, and detangling human hair, or for
grooming an animal's fur. It can also be used for styling in
combination with a curling iron or hair dryer.

 Scissors-are hand-operated shearing tools. A pair of scissors

consists of a pair of metal blades pivoted so that the sharpened
edges slide against each other when the handles (bows) opposite
to the pivot are closed.

 Shower cap- is a hat worn while showering or bathing to protect

hair from becoming wet.

Cosmetics products used in creating and maintaining hairstyles include:

 Hair coloring- or hair dyeing, is the practice of changing the hair color.

 Hair conditioner- is a hair care product used to improve the feel, appearance and
manageability of hair. Its main purpose is to reduce friction between strands of hair to
allow smoother brushing or combing, which might otherwise cause damage to the
scalp. Various other benefits are often advertised, such as hair repair, strengthening,
or a reduction in split ends.
 Hair gel- used to harden hair into a particular hairstyle.
 Hair mousse- also referred to as styling foam, is a hairstyling product to protect,
stiffen, or style hair.
 Hair spray- sprayed onto hair to protect against humidity and wind. Hair sprays
typically consist of several components for the hair as well as a propellant.
 Hair wax- is a thick hairstyling product containing wax, used to assist with holding the
hair.
 Pomade- is a greasy, waxy, or a water-based substance that is used to style hair.
Pomade generally gives the user's hair a shiny and slick appearance. It lasts longer

34
than most hair care products, and often requires multiple washes to completely
remove.

applying it to their head. Evenly apply the shampoo on the tops, sides, and then underneath.
You are giving a shampoo massage you want to be
really firm with your hands not too rough with their head
but just firm in your hands. All ten of your fingers are
doing little circles on their head. This feel really good to
the client.
While shampooing colored hair, check the color you just
going to smoosh the shampoo out of the way and see
that your color is looking beautiful.
When you got to rinse you want to rinse all of the
shampoo off your hands first. This method will keep the
shampoo to fly into the client’s face.
Figure 30: shampooing client’s hair
may look like this.

Tip #3: Rinsing. Keep the nuzzle directed down and

towards you, you want to make sure you don’t get any
water in the client’s ears. Now if going underneath, go
underneath the head and scoop the water out so that it
prevents from running down at back of her neck. Once
you see that you’ve rinse all the shampoo from your
clients hair, you want to go in with some conditioner.

35
Figure 31: Properly rinsing of the
hair.

Tip #4: Conditioning. Once again gently emulsify it on your

palms first and start at the ends of the hair and then work and
work your way up, running your fingers through if it’s possible.
Some clients have really tangle hair, that’s why running the
conditioner through your fingers feels really nice. Take your
time during the conditioning process and do not rush. Give your
client a nice massage. Picture your fingers circling again. Lift
client’s head a little bit and massage underneath, this feels so
good for them.

Figure 32: Putting the conditioner

into the client’s hair.

Tip #5: Final Rinse and towel dry. Just give a little extra
minute to wash really well off the shampoo. Then once you
feel you have really washed them completely, you are going to
ring out their hair really well. Gather their hair and grab the
towel while their head is on the bowl and lightly pat and let
dry. (Blow dry is optional)

7.3 Check results based on client’s desired outcome

What Is It

By asking to your customers to provide you with feedback, you're communicating

to them because you value their opinion, and you care about what they say.
Your customers feel important because you're treating them as such and they feel involved
in shaping your product to improve. You will know that your clients have reached the
maximum outcomes if: They feel that their hair is great after a modest haircut, hair looks
shiny, hair doesn't tangle easily, the ends are typically healthy, not split. Hair will stretch
without breaking, hair holds moisture, and it’s smooth and soft to the touch.
