Faculty name: Professor Moya

1. Describe the community service/professional activity/s you attended or participated with (be

specific about the purpose and your role): I watched several COVID-19 webinars offered by

Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy (CIDRAP). These webinars included “COVID

Testing: Who? When? Why?” which discussed when testing should be conducted in

symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals with known exposures. It also included “COVID

Vaccines & the Delta Variant” which discussed information related to who can get the vaccine

and its benefits. Another webinar “COVID & Schools” discussed safety protocols for COVID-19

in schools such as wearing masks and spacing desks. I also attended a CPR BLS renewal class

with AZCPR. This class provided hands-on coursework, demonstrations, and an exam to receive

a recertification in basic life support CPR. My role in this class was to practice CPR on an adult

and child mannequin and practice how to address a child or adult that is choking.

2. Where was this held and what was program/activity length: I watched several COVID

podcasts on 11/12/2021, 11/13/21 and 11/14/21. The webinars are offered online by CIDRAP.

The webinars included “COVID Testing: Who? When? Why?” that was 35 minutes long and

“COVID and Workplaces” that was 28 minutes long. They included “COVID & Schools” that

was 44 minutes long and “COVID Vaccines & the Delta Variant” that was 44 minutes long. I

also watched “Diagnosis and Treatment of Respiratory Illness This Winter Season” that was an

hour and 18 minutes long and an “Update on COVID-19 in the Pediatric Population” that was an

hour and 21 minutes long. I attended the CPR BLS class at 6pm on 11/9/2021 and it lasted 3

hours. This class was held by AZCPR and was located at 5151 E Broadway Blvd Ste 1600

Tucson, AZ.
3. Discuss the value of this experience to you (be specific): These activities have provided

experience and education that is valuable to me. It is very important to be up to date in my CPR

BLS certification. This CPR BLS class provided me with valuable information on how to react

when a patient requires CPR. The COVID-19 webinars offered by CIDRAP provided me with

valuable information in how to test and treat patients with COVID-19. This information is highly

valuable for me as I am starting my professional career during the COVID-19 pandemic and

need to be educated on how to care for these patients.

4. How would you continue to use this experience throughout your nursing career: The CPR BLS

class provided me with education on how to react when a patient requires CPR. I will know how

to react in my professional career when I see a patient that is unresponsive, breathing

abnormally, and has no pulse. I will know to perform CPR and use the 30:2 compression to

breath ratio with compressions at 100 per minute. I will also be faced with testing and treating

patients with COVID -19 and thanks to the COVID-19 webinars, I will know the best practices

for conducting testing and providing treatment to these patients.

5. Would you recommend this specific communnity/professional experience in the future; why

or why not? (Describe): I would recommend the CPR BLS renewal class with AZCPR. The class

was taught by and instructor that was engaging and approachable. I would recommend all the

COVID webinars offered by CIDRAP that I watched as they provided beneficial learning

materials for nurses entering this profession during the COVID-19 pandemic.

6. Brochure or proof of attendance obtained if applicable? Yes Signature on validation of

clinical hours form obtained? Yes: Proof of attendance was not offered for the COVID-19
